Seat68
Original UK pressing; this goes with my US promo pressing and Dutch "Sunflower/Surfs Up" twofer What an album, people blather on about Pet Sounds, which is awesome but Sunflower, Holland, Carl and The Passions album, all great. That said I love the Light album so my opinion is worthless.
rjw63
I wouldn't say that mate! Light Album is great apart from the disco debacle
Seat68
its just considered poor, it was the first beach boys album I ever bought so I have a soft spot for it.
mjmooney Posted June 17, 2014 VT Supporter Share Posted June 17, 2014 Agreed, but there is a decline in the good/bad track ratio on those albums. Could make a great compilation from them, though.

Seat68
Arrived this morning Do you have a goal with The Beach Boys? Is the intention to get everything plus promos or are promos bought as it was extra? Are you going chronological or do you have a list and they are ticked off? Genuinely interested. I have mentioned previously that I am collecting Johnny Cashs albums, chronologically, not promos as there arent many, or singles as he has a few rare ones that I would need to remortgage for. I am up to the start of the 70's and about 30 albums in.
rjw63
I used to have a MASSIVE BB;s colection; every US and UK single (except one!) every US pic sleeve 45, pic sleeves from virtually every country, promo/demos of every US single and nearly all UK 45s. Then the albums. All US and UK standard copies plus a lot of promo, demo and pic discs, also test pressings and factory samples. Also all the solo LPs by Dennis, Brian, Carl. Even the crap ones by Mike and Bruce as well. My ex flogged them when we split (very long story) so collecting the 45s is futile as I'd never afford all or get some of of the VERY rare discs I used to have...so I have just replaced all my albums as that was easier. Now if I see any promos or demo's I'll grab em to add to the collection. It's a fun hobby!

mjmooney Posted June 17, 2014 VT Supporter Share Posted June 17, 2014 The first edition was littered with errors, but still essential. Doubt if I'll upgrade, TBH.

Rugeley Villa
Pink floyd, wish you were here. I don't listen to them as much as other bands, but at their best they are absolutely brilliant. Gilmour can create more emotion in three notes than most guitarists can with twenty. There is a side of them which I'm not keen on, but as I've said at their best they are one of the best. Xann
Father's Children - Nice Soul Funk album on Numero. They specialise in digging up nice material from backwaters, or stuff that never got beyond being appreciated locally.
