Jean II Makoun

Saw him close up before the game on Saturday and the guy is pretty small and stick thin and actually looks a good wind would blow him over. He definitely weighs no more than 9 and half stone wringing wet looking at him. Dress sense leaves a lot to be desired as well :)

Exactly dbsboots, I'm suprised people are still bringing it up.

It's happened, it was wrong, he's being punished.

Not bringing it up to have a go at him Rob, just feel that people are makin excuses that I dont agree with. i dont buy into the fact that hes adapting to the pace of the premiership as the reason. Mis timed tackles yes, maybe, but two footed lunges - Not for me

"I am feeling really good. Everything has gone well since I've been here - apart from my red card, of course," he told the club's official website.

"In France, if you're sent off it's a one-match ban, with perhaps another match added in too. When I first heard it was three games, I thought 'what, you're joking?'

"It really upset me. It was after the match in the dressing room. Fabian told me 'you're now out for three games' and I said 'no, no'. I thought 'am I ever going to play again?' I couldn't believe it.

Raring to go

"I am absolutely raring to go now. I felt really bad after the red card. I had put lots of effort into getting used to the game here and being ready to put the work in for Villa.

"I felt after the red card like I was no use. It was really hard to take. It was really upsetting because above all else I want to contribute and help the team.

"It happened so quickly. I was just starting to get the rhythm of the game in this country and suddenly it was cut short for three matches.

"I am not a good spectator either. I don't like watching games because it winds me up. I prefer to be out there on the pitch and helping. I don't even like watching on television either.

"Now I am raring to go. I can't wait to get started again. I want to make a big impact on the team. It's seemed like an eternity. I have been waiting patiently.

"We're finally there now. I am prepared for the next game now, which is a tough match against Wolves."

Sounds like a good lad. Thats a good attitude. Hopefully he will push us forward. Could be an influential player for us in the run in. I'm still hoping for a top 10 finish.

From what's written there, if it is an honest translation straight from his heart then you can see all along the kind of player that houllier wants at the club.

Think he has been average so far, in fact considering the red card and being missing for 3 games, below average.

Houllier signed him though so according to some on here he is the best thing since sliced bread.

And according to others a hopeless European with no clue.

Or, God forbid, they've watched Makoun play and formed their own opinion which differs from yours, independent of any agendas they may or may not have?

I think he's been above average when he's played, I'm looking forward to him being back. He's been a little overhyped, but he's a new signing so it's bound to happen (with any manager, not just Houllier)

What a pathetic comment.

In the games he's played he's been anything but average. Is 85 completed passes out of an attempted 94 average against Man Utd at Old Trafford? One of the most physical, pressing teams in the league? It's certainly not average when the passes were all over the place and not just short touches or going backwards:

I can't wait to see him against Wolves.
