Demitri_C Posted April 2, 2006 Posted April 2, 2006 The "reliable" rag that is known as the news of the world claims that newcastle will let milner go as long as they can ahve gareth barry. im not sure about the rest of you but barry has been our only consistent performer this year in my eyes and he is versatile. as much as i like milner id rather keep barry if taht was the only wa to sign milner.
slabsquare Posted April 2, 2006 Posted April 2, 2006 Agreed 100%. Barry has a quality sorely lacking in some of his team mates and totally alien to his manager - he appears to give a damn
Afros Posted April 2, 2006 Posted April 2, 2006 Lets offer them Samuel, Newky's seem to love defenders who fail to defend...
LancsVillan Posted April 2, 2006 Moderator Posted April 2, 2006 have added a Poll to it for me for all the promise Milner shows I'd rather keep GB
villafan306 Posted April 2, 2006 Posted April 2, 2006 Milner is younger and can play on both wings. Barry is more experienced and can also play in defence. No preference to be honest as long as we have at least one of them.
Trinity-Tom Posted April 2, 2006 Posted April 2, 2006 Definitely keep Barry and if we can't keep Milner we should sign Gera from tesco's to play right midfield!
paddy Posted April 2, 2006 Posted April 2, 2006 I'd have Milner but still wouldn't see it as a good deal. Whoever it was that asked why we didn't include a fee we could buy Milner for in the deal had a very good point, we're just adding to his value to very little gain for ourself. Solano and £1m would have sorted it I'm sure.
Morley_crosses_to_Withe Posted April 2, 2006 Posted April 2, 2006 As if their fat boy chairman is going to buy anyone without the new manager having a say. He got it SO BADLY wrong with Souness, you can be certain his next appointment is going to be a good one; and with the money they can spuff on players, who is going to want Barry!?
Condimentalist Posted April 2, 2006 Posted April 2, 2006 Barry. Can we have sum people who vote Milner come out and justify it please.
Morley_crosses_to_Withe Posted April 2, 2006 Posted April 2, 2006 Barry. Can we have sum people who vote Milner come out and justify it please. I haven't voted, because the story is clearly nonsense, but I suppose those who said Milner have done so because of the amount of assists he has for us this season.
bickster Posted April 2, 2006 Moderator Posted April 2, 2006 Rather Have Barry, rather play him centre mid, rather have a manager that played to the strengths of our best players (Barry has never has this ever) I'd like Milner too though, tell Newcastle to **** off having already tapped up Milner before he goes back, he'd ask for a transfer I think you know the rest
bickster Posted April 2, 2006 Moderator Posted April 2, 2006 Oh yes and the obvious bollocks story, the jocks haven't appointed a new manager yet, so how can this even be a story
Rocafella Posted April 2, 2006 Posted April 2, 2006 Milner is amongst the best players in our team, Barry gives us nothing special. When Milner is out of the side, you see what happens. We don't create anything. Barry needs room to move his ultra-slow and a bit overweight body around. Milner has 8 assists or something this season, which is very good. He's been out for a while as well. Barry works hard, but he is much too slow in his all-round play. Milner is younger and surely has a better shot at making the England-team, something Barry never will do again. I liked Barry as a defender, but as a midfielder he is just mediocre. Prove me otherwise, he is one of the reasons we are bottom-5 instead of top-5.
Wurzel Posted April 2, 2006 Posted April 2, 2006 I voted Milner, he can only improve from the standard he is now, which is very good, Barry , I feel, is as good as he is going to get, which is average.
largelugs Posted April 2, 2006 Posted April 2, 2006 I liked Barry as a defender, but as a midfielder he is just mediocre. Prove me otherwise, he is one of the reasons we are bottom-5 instead of top-5. Barry is one of the few players in our team that isn't a bottom 5 player at the moment. He's had dips in form the last couple of seasons but he is a quality player just lacking the pace to make him a top 5 player.
uberx Posted April 2, 2006 Posted April 2, 2006 We cant let Barry go. Hes always been with us and hopefully he always will be.
