Oh, and I saw this gem tweeted a few minutes ago. It's from The Sun's editorial page, and it's their comment on the final day of the transfer window:

Money old game

NO sign of any Premier League recession as players move for sums that would make a banker blush.

Chelsea were set to sign Liverpool's Fernando Torres for a British transfer record of £50m, with Newcastle's Andy Carroll joining Kenny Dalglish for £35m.

Funny old game, football. For all the millions the big sides hurl around, it will be little Crawley Town who run out to face Manchester United in the FA Cup.

You can buy players. You can't always buy success.

Nice research there. Now where is that /facepalm emotion Limpid promised?

The prospect of a Drogba-Torres partnership frightens me a little.

How will the accomadate them though?

Not bad either...

Be interesting when they play eachother at the weekend.

The Carroll transfer is the second most ridiculous transfer EVER (worst being Ibrahimovic for Eto'o + £60 million), but it will be quite exciting to see how Suarez and Carroll play together.

That'll save 'em. 17 in 65 or something like that for Kilmarnock. Clinical.

yeah but since Killie signed Eremenko he has scored for fun.

Hopefully this will get him an Ireland call-up

Why do we compare fees? He cost more than Rooney but it's what Liverpoil needed. The guy is 21, he's already dominating defences, it's frightening to see what he could become, yes Liverpool have paid premium however who else could they have realistically got? Its a good long term signing and him and Suarez will be dangerous.
