So, NJPW x AEW is happening.

The forbidden door has opened and wrestling is about to get very interesting.

I love that AEW are open to working with companies. They have a deal with AAA, Impact, NWA and now NJPW. After many decades of WWE trying to be the only gig in town this is refreshing.

Also for the short term Jay white, Kenta and Guerrillas of Destiny all live in Florida when not touring NJPW so they are relatively local to where AEW shoot Dynamite which is exciting.

That would have been more likely had Jay White's tease of quitting NJPW lasted a bit longer. It played out great, and I could have seem him doing something with AEW rather than WWE in the meantime, but he's already back in NJPW with GoD at his behest if seems.

It's cool to see all the same. I can't imagine it'll go too much further than setting up the Moxley x KENTA US Heavy title match, but if it does, bonus.

I love the aew version of jericho

WWE has been shite since the attitude era finished, around the same time it also purchased WCW and ECW.

I know it shouldn’t but recently finding out Y2J is a massive Trumper and has donated nearly $40,000 to his re-election campaign and now towards his legal defence really feels like a punch in the gut. Always thought he was a decent guy, turns out he’s a nobber. #sadface

I know what you mean.  With people like Taker it was always obvious so it was something I could wilfully forget when I wanted but Jericho never seemed that type.  He got rinsed recently when he tweeted he ‘wasn’t political’ and the comments were then filled with evidence of his donations.

YouTube has decided to recommend a load of old WWF matches, including that '92 Royal Rumble posted earlier! I guess YouTube did the same recommendations to others as well!

Nearly 30 years ago. Crazy! Sadly, a lot of them dead now, including some I wasn't even aware of.

That is actually pretty gutting. I'd have never guessed it.

He's also somewhat of a Covid denier.

He toured the US during the height of Covid last year, several people caught Covid at those shows and Jericho didn't care.

Jericho himself also caught Covid in September, which he potentially spread to fellow AEW talent as Nick Jackson of the Young Bucks also got Covid around that time.

I was a big fan of Jericho, but he's lived long enough to become the villain at this point.

It's not just Jericho either, there's quite a few who are much more conservative than you'd have thought. The Young Bucks are also Trump supporters, and the Khan family gave 1mil dollars after his inauguration.

  • 2 weeks later...

We now have the rules of the Exploding Barbed Wire Deathmatch happening tomorrow at AEW Revolution between Kenny Omega (c) and Jon Moxley;

  • 3 sides of the ring ropes wrapped in barbed wire (one rope left clear for "emergency purposes").
  • Contact with barbed wire triggers explosives on corresponding side.
  • 3 zones of barbed wire on the floor wired to explosives.
  • 30 minute countdown timer until all explosives in and around the ring detonate.

The only rule they left out is the win condition, but it's likely a pinfall, or submission finish.

I fully expect this match to run longer than 30 minutes solely because the visual of everything exploding will be something AEW could use in video packages for decades. I don't see them missing that opportunity.

The full card for Revolution is as follows;

Quote
  1. (Pre-Show) Riho & Thunder Rosa vs. Dr. Britt Baker & Reba
  2. The Young Bucks (c) vs. Chris Jericho & MJF for the AEW World Tag Team Championship
  3. Brian Cage & Ricky Starks vs. Darby Allin & Sting in a Street Fight
  4. Hikaru Shida (c) vs. Ryo Mizunami for the AEW Women's World Championship
  5. 'Hangman' Adam Page vs. Matt Hardy in a Big Money Match (winner receives the losers 2021 first-quarter earnings)
  6. Cody Rhodes vs. Scorpio Sky vs. Penta El Zero Miedo vs. Lance Archer vs. Max Caster vs. ?? in a Ladder Match (winner receives a future AEW TNT Championship match)
    • The final entrant is a surprise that will be revealed at the PPV.
  7. Miro & Kip Sabian vs. Orange Cassidy & Chuck Taylor
  8. 15 Team Casino Tag Team Royale (winner receives a future AEW World Tag Team Championship match)
  9. Kenny Omega (c) vs Jon Moxley for the AEW World Championship in an Exploding Barbed Wire Deathmatch.

It's set to be a thoroughly entertaining night of wrestling.
