Absolutely no chance of us getting relegated... and don't think there ever was. So many shit teams below us, and we have too much squad depth.

More interesting question is where we finish in that 7th to 16th range.

Top half must be the target when you see Southampton in 9th. And Brighton 10th despite winning three games in about six months.

Perhaps Leicester will come in with good late end of season run but they are still in europe so should stop winning soon as they were very fortunate to beat Leeds.

We ain't finishing 7th (that went when we failed to beat Watford and Leeds at home) and we ain't finishing as low as 16th either.

We'll probably finish between 8th and 12th, hopefully closer to 8th than 12th if we can find a bit of consistency but the run of games after Leeds ain't easy.

It would be nice to finish above the Dogheads that's for sure who seem to be on a slippery slope. Long may it continue.

Can definitely see Leicester overtaking Brighton and Southampton (and maybe even Wolves) although they were lucky to beat Leeds today.

We need to keep pace with them but this is Villa and we've been so damn inconsistent all season sadly.

If we beat Leeds on Thursday then maybe we can start getting our hopes up again.

I wouldn't rule Watford from surviving just yet they've recently beat us and got a good draw against Man Utd, Hodgson will improve them and have them picking up the odd result here and there. It's unlikely but if they beat Arsenal tomorrow they will be on the same points as Everton, albeit Everton will have three games in hand, but they will also be just one point behind Leeds.

These are our remaining games:

Arsenal (h), Wolves (a), Spurs (h), Liverpool (h), Leicester (a), Norwich (h), Burnley (a), Palace (h), Man City (a), plus an home against Burnley to be arranged.

Looking at those it's not beyond the realms of possibility that we lose the next five, after which who knows what the table will look like.

We could probably lose every game for the rest of the season and should still stay up by 3 points

We have to stop making excuses now and start winning some of the tough games, today wasn't so bad as we've just won three, and played three in quick succession, but now have a week off, so I don't think we should be dismissing the Arsenal game just because they're top four, we can't just keep dismissing every fixture against the better teams, we're going to have to get a few results if we want to finish top half, because if we don't get points off the better teams, we aren't just going to conveniently win all the 'easier' games we have left, and even if we were to win he so called easier games that would still be just another twelve points taking us to 45 points which might not be enough to finish top half.

Can probably finish top 10 just by beating Norwich, Palace and getting 4 points off Burnley tbh. That's 46 points plus we'll draw the odd game v say Leicester and possibly Wolves.

Southampton have 4 home games left and three of them v Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool so surprised if they get anywhere near 50 points.

Brighton lost five straight and still have to play Spurs, Man. United, West Ham at home and also still got to play Spurs away aswell along with Arsenal and Man. City.

Palace got Man. City tomorrow and still got Arsenal and Man. United at home.

Leicester got the easier home run but team selection showed their priority isn't the league currently.

We are 14 points clear of Everton now.....who aren't even in the bottom 3.

Who's dismissing the Arsenal game? That's exactly the sort of game we should/can win.

Useless.😉

Have to say Saka v potentially Young fills me with dread but I think if we can freshen up a few areas we can cause them troubles as it's not that hard to create chances v them as Watford had 4-5 decent ones the other week.

Think we'll draw that and also Wolves away.

Agreed. Arsenal are flying high but still vulnerable. Beating them would be the high point of this season so let’s do it. I’m sure Martinez and Chambers have already marked the date in their calendars.

It's time for this team to stop bottling it against the better teams. We could easily have got a point off West Ham yesterday, possibly even all 3, but threw it away from 55 minutes onwards by retreating into our shell like we always do during matches and West Ham took advantage.

The next 4-5 games are all games we could lose but we have enough good players to win those games too if we turn up. Our record against teams above us this season is appalling and needs to improve in the remaining games if we're to feel optimistic for next season.

For example, Wolves for me on paper aren't any better than us, in fact I personally think we have better players and more of our players would get in a combined 11 (and I'm usually fairly objective with this). But they are above us in the league. It doesn't mean we shouldn't be looking to win that game. Finishing above them should be a goal of ours.

We need to start grinding out some draws against the better teams if we can't beat them, that would be some progress at least. Gerrard needs to know when to rotate because I think playing an unchanged team for the third game in a week was the reason we looked so flat yesterday. He also needs to try and take the pressure off Coutinho making things happen all the time and try to get Bailey and Buendia into the side to get some more creativity.

I'd hope this is fairly realistic:

  • Arsenal (H) - D
  • Wolves (A) - W
  • Spurs (H) - D
  • Liverpool (H) - L
  • Leicester (A) - D
  • Norwich (H) - W
  • Burnley (A) - D
  • Palace (H) - W
  • Burnely (H) - W
  • City (A) - L

That would end the season on 52 points and we'd probably end up in 9th place (the same position we finished the last time we got top half in 10/11). We are no way going to get relegated and shouldn't be anywhere near the bottom 3. Anywhere lower than last season (11th) would be shocking tbh.
