Kiwivillan
With Torres looking like done had thought about if happened might look at Konsa at RB and he could work the way Emery played last season with RB not getting forward. Pretty much a season worth of games at RB in his career. I'd be ok with that

Martinez Konsa Mings Torres Tielmans Luiz Kamara Ramsey New Watkins New I think Emery is a big fan of the 4 4 2 defensive shape and as "formations" are always quoted as the defensive shape I don't think he will play this as it's too far removed from how he wants us to play in build up. The 3 4 3 means defending in a back 5 not 4 What Emery seems keen on is a back 4 in defence and then a switch to a functional back 3 in build up where a full back (Left Back usually) moves forward to be in attack and the other 3 players shift over to make a back 3 behind the two 6s. So do I think we will play with 3 CBs? Yes often. Do I think it will be as part of a back 3? No it will be part of a back 4 when defending.
ferguson1
I think 442 shape will still be Emery’s preferred formation but this will change during the game no doubt. Wouldn’t be surprised to see the team below start the first game away at Newcastle. Moreno when fit will take the left side place and someone new (not yet signed) next to Watkins. CVByrne
There's one thing for certain we won't be playing and that's wing backs and a back 3. It's a significant departure from what Emery has done so far at Villa and Villarreal
