After seeing how we have played so far this season, if everyone was fit this is what I would play: (roles ala-FM):

                                         Heaton

Konsa (BPD) Engels (BPD) Mings (BPD)

Guilbert (WB)              Luiz (DLP)              Targett (WB)

                    Grealish (AP)     McGinn (BBM)

                       Wesley (DLF)     Davis (AF)

In jan we defo need a new DM and a new striker.

Yours?

That makes a lot more sense to me, I'm obviously massively out of touch with FM

so after the successful back 3 against Burnley, we need to be aiming for this permanently i think.

                        Heaton

           Konsa - Mings - Hause

Guilbert - Luiz - Nakamba - Targett

            NEW - Wesley - Grealish

McGinn to come in for either Nakamba or Luiz when fit.

Engels to possibly come in for either Hause or Konsa when fit.

New striker and inside forward needed, especially with Wesley's injury.

Thought the formation switch was a huge success today. We just looked  so much better at both ends and limited Burnley to hardly anything up to 80th minute.

I'd be sticking with it for Leicester and Man. City, think we'll be much harder to play though than just going back to 4-3-3.

Think the squad can grow into it the way likes of Wolves and Sheffield United have. Also important to show DS he dosen't have to just blindly stick to one system all the time.

Difficult to say if it was a one off or whether this tactic may work for us, but if we are to continue we desperately need Targett back. Playing Taylor as a wing back is absolutely insane.

I thought we were going to try overlapping Cb's like Sheffield do. With Taylor sitting and either Hause or Mings sort of moving further forward because they are that much better at crossing. If only Taylor was 4 inches taller and he could be a centre half and he would probably be quite good at it.

Have we been crying out for 3 at the back with a narrow front 3/2.

- Poor defending long balls and crosses when playing 4 at the back? Check.
- Good pool of ball playing centre backs in Mings, Engels, Konsa and Hause? Check.
- Strong attacking wingbacks in Targett, Elmohamady and Guilbert? Check.
- 'Wide' midfielders in Grealish, Trezeguet & El Ghazi who love to play central, get in the box and score? Check.

Any other points I've missed?

Taylor was actually decent today tbh.

I've just watched the first 45, but he was poor. Just so limited.

Like always he gets the ball across the half way line and everything stops. Then a backpass.

No thank you. Taylor can be added to the bag with Lansbury and Elmo. No thanks. Get rid.

We did some of this - Konsa in particular was driving forward a fair bit, and put in the cross for Grealish’s disallowed goal.

Repost from DS thread.

Deano, as you obviously read this forum :P , this is our strongest 11:

                      Heaton

         Konsa - Mings - Hause

Guilbert  -  Marv - Luiz  -  Targett

           Grealish  -  McGinn

                     Wesley

Subs: Steer, Engels, Elmo, Hourihane, El Ghazi, Trez, Davis      (Jota??)

my only debate is Engels, part of me thinks he should be in the back 3 as a starter, but part of me also thinks with Konsa, Mings & Hause, all of them have a turn of speed so the whole back 3 can play that bit higher up the field without fear of being turned, thoughts?

If Engels did get in that 3, would probably be Konsa - Engels - Mings  OR  Engels - Mings - Hause......thoughts?

Don't know Konsa is so good going forward they all complimented each other well today.

He's Brazilian that's all he has to be 😂 don't you know....

I know he's not a DM and Nakamba should start ahead of him every game. Was foolish to pair Drinkwater with Luiz and not Nakamba vs Man City

That’s pretty much how I’d go too. I might be tempted to change Konsa and Hause (Konsa on the right and Mings left) round against smaller, technical sides and save Hause for the Burnley’s of this world.

What does Luiz actually do I keep asking myself?

I don’t rate him much at all. Don’t see the hype in him and don’t think he’ll turn out to be the great player people think he will.

When survival is your goal at the start of the season, he is the antithesis of what you need.

A poor signing on many levels.
