mjmooney Posted June 29, 2005 VT Supporter Posted June 29, 2005 'kinnell you lot - what do you fill 'em with? My 5-year old PC came with a 30Gb drive which I thought was ridiculously larger than I'd ever need - and it still is! It's never been more than half full, and that's with music files, graphics, etc. Mind you I don't store video on there, which I would imagine takes up a fair bit. Mike
jimmygreaves Posted June 29, 2005 Posted June 29, 2005 WOOP WOOP WOOP WOOP -- GEEK ALERT -- GEEK ALERT -- WOOP WOOP WOOP WOOP I Had a PC at Uni and the hard drive was 500mb.
The_Rev Posted June 29, 2005 Author Posted June 29, 2005 On mine? Well, music stands at about 55gb TV shows downloaded from UKnova is about 30gb Games, probably another 40gb (Steam/Half Life 2 is 8gb on its own!) Dunno what the rest is full of, but its getting full! you can get a decent quality 200gb hard drive for about £60 these days, which is very cheap inst it?
Tegis Posted June 29, 2005 VT Supporter Posted June 29, 2005 A bought a 36 gig raptor (WD) disc last month. I't cost the same as a 200 gig one but the speed of it is out of this world. Highly recommended as a system drive.
Guest Posted June 29, 2005 Posted June 29, 2005 PC: Hard Drive: 71.2GB Free: 9.03GB Music: 39GB Games: 10.57GB Videos: 2.04GB And the rest on whatever else I have installed on here, program files and such...
Designer1 Posted June 29, 2005 VT Supporter Posted June 29, 2005 80gb internal and 120gb external which I use mostly for a secondary scratch disk for Photoshop. Most of my drive gets filled with unflattened PSD's the largest of which is 15gb and has 140 layers!
mockingbird_franklin Posted June 29, 2005 Posted June 29, 2005 my pc contains 2 sata drives with 160gb and 80gb, and two further ata drives with 80gb each, so that's 480gb of space, they are about 1/2 full of music, video, games etc, but since buying a dvd burner Hard drive capacity isn't anywhere near as important as it used to be, just archive so much to dvd now.
Guest RantinRob Posted June 29, 2005 Posted June 29, 2005 I have 80gb, but there a three Pc's and a laptop in our house, total 260gb Oh shit! Forgot the 160gb external HD - that makes 420gb
Guest RantinRob Posted June 29, 2005 Posted June 29, 2005 'kinnell you lot - what do you fill 'em with? loads of lesbian porn which is waiting to be burned onto DVD :winkold:

konsoul Posted June 29, 2005 Posted June 29, 2005 No matter how much you buy you'll never have enough! I thought my 200 gig dedicated mp3 drive I got about 6 months ago would last me forever but im already having to delete stuff off it.
rjw63 Posted September 22, 2016 Posted September 22, 2016 Thread necromancy alert This thread is highly amusing...look at the paltry amounts of drive space we had back in the day! We's into TB's now boy

Mike I hope Moon man is still using that bad boy I think there's >30gb storage in the box of Muesli on my desk!
Amsterdam_Neil_D Posted September 22, 2016 Posted September 22, 2016 I bought my own cloud of 1.5 TB's + whatever is in the house so I suppose total storage is around 3-5 TB's not counting Ps4. My first computer device was a Sinclair ZX81 with 1024 kb volatile storage. It had to be assembled by yourself at that point also.
