Emily Maitlis has been replaced as presenter of Newsnight on Wednesday evening after bosses reprimanded the host for monologue about Dominic Cummings breaking lockdown rules because it “did not meet our standards of due impartiality”.

Yet their political editor regularly just repeats whatever her unnamed Tory sources say with no qualification or scrutiny.

Funny old world.

Yep, quoting ‘anonymous’ sources with the government hot take lies is perfectly acceptable.

Listing a series of facts, not acceptable

We really are at the start of a long hot summer with lots n lots of people being made unemployed. Buckle up and enjoy the ride.

More Tory suits incoming no doubt, to keep things in line.

Thing is they don't give a shit either way.  If the BBC becomes a government mouthpiece, they win.  If it becomes an institution which is so unpopular that it can be shut down with little fuss, they win.

Ah, the days when criticising the obscene standard of journalism and impartiality from Kuenssberg and the wider BBC could be handwaved as sour grapes because nobody liked the other side.

She wasn’t. If Corbyn did anything, at least he flushed out the fake Socialists in the Party.

Corbyn actually stuck up for her, seemed to quite like her, which was odd

Apologies for the Twitter thread, but I think this is quite a nice summary of why Kuenssberg's coverage of this story last week was so toxic:

There's actually more on the thread, but I think you get the picture. It's really indefensible IMO.

The criticism in that thread is predicted on her source being Cummings. That’s just an assumption though.

She explains she is quoting government sources for their side of the story and presents it as such, it’s not like she claims it is a fact. The confusion is more likely because it is accounts coming from different people rather than one person changing their story.

I think it's an exceedingly safe assumption to be honest.

It's pretty much a known fact

She is literally chasing round every jouralists story and trying to change the narrative. She isn't doing her own tweets, she's replying to others tweets to attampt to change the story
