But he is also so professional that if he felt anything was close he wouldn't be tossing it off on a beach somewhere? I'd have him back no question, but I'm not convinced. At 36, and with no pre season he is probably a couple of months away from matxh firness. With that in mind, and with the cost involved, the club may feel like they can stumble on till January. I don’t rate Elphick particularly but we are insanely thin in that position. Rabbit out of a hat time, or we could be in massive trouble at the back. Now they might all be crap, but i think its clear that Bruce thinks Elphick is even worse. I don't believe that letting Elphick go means we have anyone lined up. However generally most clubs have 4 specialist cds, sometimes 3 but with some extra cover by utility defenders. To just have one specialist cd is insane. One injury to Chester and we would have no cd at all! Add to that that Bruce’s preferred partner to Chester is 33 and not a cd doesn’t help.
