I like a front 4 of Grealish, Hogan, Snodgrass and Adomah. I've been intrigued to see this all season.

Not much energy in midfield with Whelan and Jedinak though. That said I'm not a fan of Elphick so maybe 2 DM's is prudent.

I actually think its a decent line-up

The back four is fine.

I'm not sure about Whelan and Jedinak both playing and it leaves Grealish with an awful lot of ground to cover - those two will be ten yards outside our box and Grealish will be covering everything from there to the opposition penalty spot. Still, it might work for us on the break.

That is my biggest concern with this. I can see our shape being destroyed after 20 minutes. People like to question Hourihane saying he does nothing, but Hourihane bridges the gap between our defenders and attacking players. If Jedinak and Whelan both stay back defensively, then there will likely be a huge gap in the middle resulting in a lot of longs balls, and Hogan is starting so that won't work.

The thing we'll need to avoid is having Snodgrass and Adomah tempted into covering for the full backs when Brentford have the ball - mostly because Brentford will almost always have the ball - if we do that, we're basically going to be playing with eight players defending, a midfielder and a striker who's not at his best when up front on his own.

He doesn't look any better when he has a partner though.

I don't disagree, but young Davis has looked shot for a couple of weeks.

That front 4 could work quite well as a counter attacking unit.

I like it.

I'm becoming less convinced the more I think about it.

Playing Hogan up front on his own should be a sack-able offence. Has Bruce not learnt his lesson? Especially when we have his perfect striking partner in Davis on the bench.

It's a horrible line up. What do you do with a team that is ponderous in possession....stick Whelan and Jedinak in the most important area of the pitch :/

I'm hoping more like this with Hogan playing on the shoulder of last defender. I'm hoping this formation will make us get the ball down and play.
