Probably because I rate self discipline as one of the most important traits in a player and it's probably Lansbury's weakest area.

I could not agree with you more about self discipline, l value that highly in a player too.

However, I find it hard to believe that Lansbury has achieved such good performances at Forest without it.

any player will only carry a team for so long, that is not lack of discipline or lack of desire.

its getting wise......all players need support.

Do you mean on the pitch*? Because don't you also rate Gabby very highly?

*as in he picks up a lot of needless yellow cards.

Personally I think Jedi is a good option away from home against an attacking team.

However, home matches he should be on the bench and only come on to protect our lead.

I think hourihane and Lansbury can operate centrally without him, especially with the work rates of adomah and bjarnesson.

Interesting to see how it pans out.....initially I think Lansbury could be wasted there......Jedinak for me.

however, I could be wrong.:)

I hope we see as little of Jedinak as possible. I think he is terrible and a total waste of the best part of 60k per week.

                Johnstone

Bree   Chester   Baker   Amavi

Adomah     Grealish    Bjarnason

We'll need another striker (unbelievably, considering we started the season with 3 of the most prolific Championship strikers of the past 3 years).

That would be my choice as well.

so who is going to defend?.......we need balance.

I understand the new midfielders are can do both, but do we really want to bog down offensive midfielders with defensive duties.

I think it depends on how we are set up....But despite Jedinaks shortfalls, he offers dedicated defensive duties.....I think he will be used more than you think.

Steve Bruce has so many permutations now to choose from, which is ideal.

Bjarnoson, Hourihane and Lansbury all have pretty good engines and mobility. All three can get stuck in too

My boss is a Forest fan and said the worst thing for Lansbury is to play him too deep as he was ineffective for them in that position.

Lansbury and Hourihane start in the middle and if we're getting overrun in the middle, take off Adomah and put Jedinak in front of the back four. With the talent we now have in the midfield areas we shouldn't be starting with a DM and soaking up pressure, we should be the ones applying it.

I understand your point and I am not arguing, just offering and alternative view.

In my experience its difficult to do both.....If we have them bogged down with defending we lose their attacking capability.

I need to see them play to be sure, but my instints tell me they have come to support the offensive players in scoring goals.

Its just my suspicion that Jedinak will still be used.

but like i said SB will have so many options now.

Ps Crystal Palace would have him back.....now they have become a softer touch, since he left.

You may be right, at present IMO Jedinak has been a massive flop. He looks a plae shadow of his former self, but I don't think he has ever been very good personally. I have never seen someone so uncomfortable with a football in the middle of the park

I made a massive mistake saying something similar about Des Bremner in the early 80's......I regret it now and see what a novice fan I was.

I was in my 30's and wrapped up with all the eye candy.....but you need someone to do the ugly stuff, BEFORE it gets to the defence.

Ginko makes some good points, but I still think you need a DM......else someone else has to do it who is maybe not so specialised.

Look, Jedinak has lost his legs, but he still nullifies the aerial threat and players running through the middle.

IMV we would have won against Preston, if he was playing.

Ps DM's are not renowned for their ball skills

Jedi will have a part to play for sure, he is more than capable of doing the job he's best at. But, we don't have to play him every week. We have options now, we can play different formations and change the approach up. Jedi will be the defence protector when we need him to, the difference now is that he will have other midfielders to do the other stuff
