It's like that as there would be uproar/big media coverage in the (very unlikely) scenario that one of the teams in the final (say France) injured both their keepers in the run up and had to play a defender or someone in goal and people would say it was a worthless final and the other team only won by default (a bit like that great big asterisk next to Liverpool's title win or Leeds promotion due to covid). Dreadful generation for Ireland only Knight, Kelleher and Bazunu look like have potential Bench of Long, Hendrick, McClean and Brady is not encouraging. There's no talent there and what talent there was, has gone to play for England. I have been saying it for a few years, it has been coming due to an inept organisation and is nothing coming through.
