If the owners took a look at our overall situation and decided it was ultimately move stadium in order to seriously compete or they will move on themselves - would you prefer to move or stay where we are?

That could work.

Zero public transport links to that site. The nearest stations are over an hour and a half's walk away.

It really couldn't work

Reducing the amount of vehicular traffic is paramount to any move. Just posted it to show that’s the only site currently listed openly by the council which would be big enough.

1 game a week on average at times that normally won't clash with business events. Huge car parks, 2 motorways within 2 miles, a45, a452 dual carriageways,   an airport, a station that goes straight into Birmingham, within 10 minutes, new HS2 terminal 500m away,  Into London within 35 minutes, a new light railway going in to further increase capacity into Birmingham, entertainment center pre built with more space to around to develop. Hotels right there on its doorstep,  casino, cinema, its all there already. Its a staggering opportunity.

As for worrying about drunk fans staggering around, I have been one of those and the lack of pubs around villa Park tell you a story, there's not many staggering fans left, their not our future audience.

The premier league is a international competition,  its watched all over the world, we stand on the edge of being in the elite group of teams, we need a ground and facilities that can attract world wide fans for their holy grail visit and make the most of them while they are there.

Agree with most of it. But the NEC hold way more cards than Villa and ultimately they won't benefit. It's also competition for their own interests (gigs, conferences, events should all be part of the plan for a new stadium) doing that on the doorstep of one of Europe's biggest leaders in the industry doesn't make much business sense.

You can buy property that isnt listed for sale. You just have to make the right offers.

IF we do move, I wonder if Villa Park would be renovated into apartments etc. like Highbury was.

The East and West Stands at Highbury are Grade II listed buildings (designed by a Brummie, no less).

The only stand left with any architectural merit is The Holte, which in itself is a mock version of the old Trinity, so not really worth preserving anyway.

There's no logical reason to move anyway so I'm not sure why this is still a topic of discussion.

Into London in 35 mins? That is mental - and strikes me as one hell of a reason to site a stadium there, it's basically as accessible as any London ground.

Also the HS2 interchange has a capacity of 2,100 people per hour (in both directions but most will be going to the city centre not the airport, though that could be used as a roundabout way to reach the city by train), which is clearly insufficient for a 60,000 seater stadium and the NEC car parks are an absolute disaster to get out off after a concert with a quarter that number of attendees.

HS2, one, if not the only benefit.

The hs2 is separate to the existing station and there's another transport system being built, light rail i think. As for NEC car parks, where do you park at Villa, I'm parking at the side of a road next to a scrap yard.

I don't know why people keep going on about new sites with no transport.

It's 2024. No one is getting permission for a major new stadium without public transport links.

Almost nowhere has better links than where we are.

We need some one way systems.  Maybe some road remodeling.

The new trains are just hitting the Cross City line with a 30% increase in capacity per train.

Transport links would obviously be part of the build process. There are several potential sites with better transport links than VP. The roads in particular are terrible, as is the parking.
New trains, fair enough. The stations as is are not fit for purpose though. And this is as it stands now, never mind catering for 50-60k.

Every option on the table would require significant construction work, road / rail routing, upgrading, new services etc. The only other option is do nothing, which isn't an option.

Would anything other than relatively small Villa Park redevelopment (no more than the original plan for the North stand) or a new ground and location even be an option?

I don't see any football ground share likely at all and Alexander stadium wouldn't be a particularly good option either.

Doesn't really matter what any of us thinks these are in the business to make villa a leader in competition,  they have said it enough and from what we have seen its going to happen and the ground,  whether it be in aston, Sutton or Marston Green is just a debate. I think there's a clear winner from every angle.

Yes the new station and transport system, it's a 'people mover' that will only have a 2,000 person capacity per hour.

And parking usually in someone's garden pretty much but it's still easier (and this is no benchmark) to get away from than the NEC.

Yeah, its interesting to debate. Fun.
The actual solution may surprise everybody. Welcome to the Bromford Bridge Hyperdome, home of the mighty West Midlands Village.

You may not be too far away there,  Jaguar Castle Brom is about to lose car production,  there's a train station being planned there.

Flying in from China and parking in someone's front garden ain't gonna tick the boxes on a holy grail visit to villa Park.

Sad as that is, the JLR site is huge. Plenty big enough and loads of transport links...

They'll have never seen anything like Aston. It could be like one of those quaint, non-assuming English villages (but the opposite) that goes viral on Weebo or whatever and suddenly you've got coach loads of Chinese flocking in to Mr Fish.
