Surely it was cancelled cos they fancy a move? I mean you don’t extend your house if you don’t see your future there.

The construction company that were originally tendered for the job dont want it at the price villa were willing to pay. At least that what someone that works for that company have said.

Wouldn't surprise me in the least. Construction costs have rocketed since this was unveiled. If £100m was the budget then, it's going to be minimim £150m today, maybe more.

If it came down to cost then the pause is even more stupid as it will only have got more expensive by the time they finally pull the finger out and we will have more catching up to do on revenue.

I think what happened with the Buckingham Group at Fulham & Plop is fresh in contractors mind and  has a scared a lot of firms and that should subside in time.

I trust the board to have done the math and looked at the business case from all angles and will do what’s best when the appropriate time is right for the club.

Star City with the casino shut down bit of a pointless venue now. Couldn't we just buy it and rebuild it

It's for sale at a stupidly cheap price.

Lets move from a place with 2 mainline stations to one with none.

It’s a 15 min walk or shuttle bus 4mins traffic dependent … but get the point

Star City is even more of a shithole than the area we currently play in.

We aren't moving anywhere but if we ever did, the only way it would ever make sense would be tp move to the city centre. (Which will never be a viable option)

Otherwise, there is no point.

It's cheaper to buy houses and land behind Witton Lane than any land in the City Centre.

Putting the brakes on The North Stand could be for a bigger project including the Witton Lane Stand.

Atarios are investing for something more than football me thinks.

Interesting timing of the new appointment from someone from Orascom whose background is in large infrastructure projects. Why wait for the Atairos deal ratification as he could’ve been appointed any time over the past 5 years unless they are now looking to lean on his knowledge & expertise. Doesn’t prove a move away is anymore likely but it does raise the question why now IMO.

I would now be fairly confident we are either going to be moving to a new stadium or going for a much more extensive redevelopment of Villa Park to include Witton Lane.

We definitely aren't just going to stay as we are as the poorly communicated December message indicated

My personal favourite Orascom project is the North Korea's Ryugyong Hotel in Pyeongyang

Replete with a classic rotating restaurant at the top, as all good Soviet-style hotels should be.

Could the reason we paused the development that we were waiting for these developments? And they'll kick off again soon now that it's done?

This goes beyond of just developing one stand of current stadium, this investment and establish this board seems to indicate far bigger task at hand.
