And they've pulled the Financial Services Bill from today's business - that's business that was decided just last Thursday.

What an utter shambles.

Do you think Mr May put his foot down?

Having a conspiracy theory claiming dark forces are out to distract and debilitate either of the parties is a bit of a waste of time, they've managed it all on their own

It's a combination of things.  For Labour, some of it goes back to 1980s factional infighting in which people like Corbyn, McDonnell, Hodge, Mann, McDonagh, Flint and many others were players. This is the fault line which periodically gives rise to surface disturbances.

Overlaid on that is a much more recent, and sinister, campaign to draw the teeth of the BDS movement by seeking to undermine its proponents as racists, quite falsely and cynically.  The campaign is organised, resourced, planned, and international, taking place in the UK, the US,  I gather Australia as well.

Labour managed the former all on their own, but not the latter.

I'd not thought of this, good point..

Yes, thanks.  it’s hard to tell/ be sure if that’s genuine or sarcastic. Apologies. My bad. If it’s an inference that it’s all made up, “nothing to see here”, then we disagree based on what we each see, if it’s genuine then fine. Whatever, have a good night, you’re a good soul.

NHS bosses have urged ministers to scrap controversial legislation that has led to the widespread privatisation of healthcare as part of a major revamp of the health service.

NHS England outlined detailed plans that would repeal key parts of the Health and Social Care Act 2012 to squeeze out private providers such as Virgin Care and let the NHS deliver more of its own care again.

The proposals include axing regulations that have allowed profit-driven health firms to win NHS contracts in England worth about £10.5bn in the five years after the act came into force in April 2013.

At its monthly board meeting on Thursday, NHS England published plans that, if adopted by ministers, would dismantle large parts of the shake-up instigated by Andrew Lansley, who was health secretary in the coalition government from 2010 to 2012.

Theresa May has acknowledged that the 2012 act, which is widely considered to be the most damaging ever to afflict the NHS, is hindering a drive by the health service in England to provide better care by integrating key services...

... “The market-based experiment has led to the collapse of multiple contracts, to patients getting substandard care or the denial of it altogether, and to the huge waste of public resources.”

I'm sure we'll see months, and months, and months... of Tories have an Islamophobia problem soon enough.

It's started. They're reporting Warsi's latest comments of today (as are the other media). They're reporting some tory knobbers who did racisms on the interweb.

Perhaps lots of people on the right will now pipe up that it's "manufactured" and all a plot by the BBC or the MSM or whoever to undermine ... etc.

I shan't be holding my breath.

I reckon it depends on how the baby-eaters manage it and whether bell ends keep doing it. They'll be desperate to put a lid on it. If they put Grayling on sorting it out, there'll be mayhem :)

Genuine, not trying to mock you at all. I abhor any form of racism, and sometimes I struggle to see how anyone could not see it the same as me. But racism isn't always overt, it isn't a visible factor in my life. I don't live, work or spend any time with anyone that will ever say something openly racist. Or intentionally racist, the grandparents sometimes say something 'old fashioned', but never use a racist slur or the like. So sometimes I assume that everyone is offended by racism, but they aren't

To some people, they can turn a bit of a blind eye to something they find mildly problematic because idealogically they have a lot in common with them. A bit like how most MPs voted to approve gay marriage, but some didn't. Slightly different issue, but one that obviously displays the polarity of prejudice. If you oppose gay marriage, you are homophobic, as you do not believe that gay people should have the same rights as straight people. However, enough MPs voted against it, something I should imagine made their colleagues feel uncomfortable. But most of them remain in the same party as each other.

Maybe that is the problem with both parties. I dunno, that was a bit of rant.

Had some fun in the office today, the boss absolutely tied himself in knots.

He told us the new guy starting is a sikh. To which the general consensus was:

giphy.gif

To which he qualified it by saying, 'yeah exactly, it makes no difference to me if he's english, welsh or sikh'.

To which he then corrected himself to 'of course he can be both, or all three'.

Then finished with 'I haven't got a **** clue anymore, I just want him to do the job'.

Which, eventually, was the right answer.

as @PompeyVillan says, nothing intentional just a different generation, just 'old fashioned'

Looks like he untied himself, unaided.  Not everyone would get it, so well done him for thinking it through and actually saying it out loud.  Sounds like he's trying to do the right thing.

Though I can see how observing his mental gears engaging on a tricky subject where you can get it badly wrong would be amusing.  :)

i was of the impression Sikhs recognise the human race as one and  it transcends all man made labels in favour of the universal nature of humanity

you need to go back and tie him in some more knots me thinks

Since 2015 the UK government has been trying to impose restrictions on access to porn. All of the legal measures needed to do so have passed and now it is only a matter of time until changes start to happen across the web. It's become known as the porn block.

How will the UK porn block work?

When you visit porn that's using age checks, the website will show a landing page that doesn't have any 18+ content on it. At present some websites that host porn already have landing pages that ask users to click a button to say they're over 18. However, anyone can click these buttons and there aren't any checks to confirm their age. Under the new regulation, websites will be required to adopt an age verification system from a recognised provider, one of which is AgeID, which is owned by Pornhub owner MindGeek.

The UK's porn block is stupid

Good article on an intensely stupid plan.

Remember the days when the internet was open and fun?

No bloody age checkers, or GPDR or cookie banners. No popup blocker messages. and the courts hadn't yet mandated that my ISP must block half of the internet. Sites didn't block me for living in the wrong country, either.

The internet was a lot better 15-20 years ago.

yes and no ... sitting by your modem for 30 mins for it to download a low res 12 second mpg movie was rather pants

but it was a free for all , 90% of the emails you received you'd kinda  automatically forward it to about 30 mates as you know they would appreciate it   ... sackable offence now days

the IT geek who put our routers in etc turned on all this safe search , swear filters  and adult themes bollocks  , I made him turn it all off ... there are no children working in my office just adults , not that I encourage them to look at porn whilst they are at work but they are adult enough to make their own informed decisions in life regarding the content they look at
