maqroll Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 After witnessing probably the worst penalty shootout of all time, it got me thinking about our own players right now, and who would be the ones the step up to the spot. I think I'd go with Benteke KEA Westwood Holt Bacuna Doesn't really fill you with confidence though, does it?
villa-revolution Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 (edited) Can I have Steve Staunton 5 times? Failing that, the tea lady. Edited January 23, 2014 by villa-revolution
Jay.P.A Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 (edited) 1. Vlaar 2. Agbonlahor 3. Benteke 4. Westwood 5. Bacuna Would be a bit iffy with Benteke and Westwood taking penalties to be honest. I'd even put Clark in there somewhere as well, if one of the above couldn't take one. Edited January 23, 2014 by Jay.P.A
AshVilla Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 Phil Jones Rafael Welbeck Januzaj ... Oh wait sorry didnt realise it was top 5 Aston Villa penalty takers never mind
Mantis Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 Never seen Vlaar take a penalty but I bet he's the kind that would smash them in the top corner every time.
dont_do_it_doug. Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 (edited) Holt is supposedly very good at penalties. So I'd get him on and go... Vlaar Holt Benteke Lowton/Bacuna/Delph/Clark (in that order of pref) Agbonlahor Seems pretty decent to me. Edited January 23, 2014 by dont_do_it_doug.
abdomlahor Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 Holt Benteke Bacuna Delph Vlaar Under no circumstances should Gabby ever take one.
John Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 Today: Bacuna, Gabby, Lowton, Weimann, Benteke Yesterday: Saunders, Platt, Cowans, Graydon, Anderson.
Jay.P.A Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 I reckon Guzan could smash one in too. I felt the same but didn't want to say it Brad Guzan is brilliant at saving penalties as well.
Qwpzxjor1 Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 First up Holt, reliable start Bacuna Vlaar Wiemann Benteke, save best til last but hope he's not really needed, or can win it if he holds his nerve. However, as we've hardly seen any of our team take penalties... I reckon Lowton would be good, also Luna. Wouldn't trust Delph or Gabby though.
villa4europe Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 i really wouldnt be confident with delph stepping up can imagine him dragging a daisy cutter 4ft wide
