Well I ordered my KIA EV6 in March. They told me it'd be in UK from 16th Jan 2023.

It is being dropped off at my house on Wednesday! Must have smuggled those semiconductors in through the black market...

I hope you have a good electricity tariff.

Probably a daft question but if you fully charge an electric car but leave it on the drive for 3 or 4 days does it lose its charge; much or not ?

Tesla on sentry mode loses quite a lot but you do get lots of hours of videos to watch, apparently.

My Hyundai Ioniq 5 lost next to nothing parked at the airport for 6 days.

Octopus Go which means we make sure it doesn't drop below about 70% to get 7.5p for four hours.

Wife has a Vauxhall Corsa-E so weve been learning how to play the game.

Car fixing advice please…

I have a 2008 Audi A4 (yes, don’t judge!) and the stereo amplifier stopped working.

I bought a second hand one on eBay for £60 as a new one was £360.

I fitted the replacement as it was simply pull out the old cable and stick the cable in the new amplifier.

But now the sound only comes out of one speaker. I checked on Google and apparently the amplifier needs to be paired to the stereo as an Audi anti-theft measure.

I’ve taken the car to a garage and they said go to a stereo specialist.  I took it to a local car stereo specialist and they said to take it to a different specialist who can do that sort of thing 🤦‍♂️

Any idea where in Birmingham to take my car to just get someone to pair it up?

I've used the Bass Bin in sparkhill for general car audio stuff and they've been good, might be worth giving them a call, but I'm not sure they'd be able to help.

Your best bet will probably be going to an Audi specialist as it needs their proprietary bullshit and a general audio specialist might not have the access, Autotechnik in Blackheath should be able to sort it

I’ve bought a new car for the first time ever. It’s not a popular brand, it’s not too spec and it’s probably not a good time to buy, but I want to go self employed again and I wanted to treat myself, yes there is a good wait - but I’m happy. I test drove so many cars and the one I chose just felt good.

Rumours that Ford are going to can the Ford Fiesta next year. End of an icon. Best selling car in UK history.

Same for me. When I was part way through my lessons the driving instructor changed to a car with power steering. OMG, I couldn’t believe how much easier it was.

Ford Focus ending too I believe.

You'd think they'd make an EV Fiesta.

Companies seem to not be bothered about small economical EVs. Its all about the big SUVs.

Driving and car ownership will just be for the rich in years to come.

Presumably because hatchback sales are suffering due to them limiting supply to push more of those wretched crossover things. They don't sell as many hatchbacks because they don't want to sell as many hatchbacks.

I thought it was strange they didn’t bother to go full EV with the Fiesta or the Focus given how popular they are.

They seem to be going all in on the Puma holding the share for the super mini segment.

The other funny thing is that SUV’s are getting smaller and flatter to improve drag, and therefore EV range.

They are looking more like the Jaguar I-Pace which is officially an SUV but squashed and flattened to get maximum mileage from a charge.

It's more profitable for them.

There's still a market for hatchbacks, the Corse is one of, if not the best selling car in the last couple of years. Loads of people want a small economical hatchback, but Ford have strangled supply to encourage people over to the Puma to make more cash per car. It's quite sad, the Fiesta is a good little car, and the ST variant was an incredible value for money hot hatch (more so the last version).

My wife has a Fiesta Zetec S, 1.6 turbo diesel but with a bit of sporty tuning. It’s bags of fun to drive.

I have to take it for an Italian tune up now and again to clear the diesel crap out of the system.

I think I'm going to need to put one of mine up for sale, leaning towards selling the Caterham, sadly, it's vastly more fun, but I just hardly get any use out of it. My Mx5 is at least slightly practical, can get a child seat in it, and is still fairly fun. I probably need a car that can fit 3 people in it though. I guess it'll come down to what I can pick up that is more family friendly, and if it's still fun enough to drive I'm happy using it daily, I can move the mx5 on and keep the Caterham for fun weekend drives.

This time last year I was looking at flogging the Mx5 for a TVR, probably a good job I didn't spend that cash!.

Just came on here to mention this.

I just can't believe that Ford have dropped The Mondeo, The Focus and The Fiesta within the space of a couple of years. These were the absolute bedrock of their UK sales.

I just don't understand this SUV thing.

All manufacturers seem to be dropping the smaller cheaper models to make expensive electric models. What are the learner drivers and people needing cheap cars going to do in the future.

There is surely a huge raft of people (like me) who just want/need a small to medium sized run about?

What on earth are Ford selling in the UK these days, their turnover must have dived. I really think they've lost their way.. They seem to have lost so much ground to more luxury brands. I thought it really strange that a Fiesta was so closely priced to a Polo.  I mean if there's little difference between a Volkswagen and a Ford you're going to go for the VW.

If an A4 is not much more than a Mondeo you're going to go for the A4. They used to make quality cars that were good value.

Maybe they will re-enter some of these segments when electric cars are cheap enough but speaking as someone who has owned loads of Ford in my time I can't see me every buying another one now.

Hmmmmm. So are Ford going to try to steal a march and release affordable electric cars before everyone else?

This is what's missing. They're all selling their £40,000 electric SUVs but someone needs to bring out a decent £15,000 "normal" electric car.
