  1. I didn't hate McConaughey as the Man in Black. It does take a lot from one of the later novels in particular, which was one of the main issues for fans I think, why that part? Didn't make an awful lot of sense when there's so much story there. Books 2-4 are the peak for me, with Wizard & Glass probably being the best thing King has ever written. It's also the really obvious starting point for a movie or TV series. There are other issues with the latter part of the series too, specifically a major character from another King book whose back story isn't explored in the Dark Tower, literally because it's a whole other book. How do you account for that on the screen? And he isn't even the only character like that! A TV series starting with a very brief portion more or less covering the first book, jumping to the 4th, and the just run with the Ka-tet. The marvel comic series did it similarly to this and it really worked. Enjoy the ride though! There are some wild moments.
  2. A relatively famous one, but I did think Papa's lived up to the hype. I've been to the one on the pier in Cleethorpes a few times, and it's been great on every occasion. Really good gluten free options too.
  3. Dreadful ain't it. I'm still hopeful for a series on Amazon, but we'll see. There are sections (pretty large sections, actually) of the final novels where I think it would be really difficult to suspend your disbelief if it were replicated one to one on the screen, so to make it work the screenplay would have to be drastically different to the original. But hey, it worked for LOTR so it's not impossible...just massively improbable... How are you finding the books, and how far in are you?
  4. I'm sure there will be a bit more of a build now, although I have heard talk that Ospreay may face Jericho, which I wouldn't personally be a fan of. On the topic of All In, and at the risk of sounded like a complete idiot...I cannot find any record of a ticket in my emails. I can log in to the Wembley site and see confirmation of my booking, but I don't have an actual e-ticket. Is that just me? Also of interest to some may be the current season of Dark Side of the Ring. The Chris Candido, Abdullah the Butcher, Junkyard Dog and Bam Bam Bigelow episodes were all decent, and this week it's Bash at the Beach 2000.
  5. Might appear that way, but it isn't. She was the starting left back for England in the Euro's final, for example.

    Tickets

With regards to the upper holte being locked out, it is indeed Terrace View related. No idea what happens when they reach general sale, the upper holte still isn't sold out, maybe they'll be available then? Makes a bit of a mockery of the membership, and I can't imagine enough terrace view packages would have been sold (plus existing season ticket holders) to sell out the upper holte every league match?
  7. Reddit is the source of this one - guy's cousin in the same hotel as the squad has seen Sanson leave and say his goodbye's. Same guy then posted pics of his cousin with the squad at the hotel.
  8. I'd go along with it being a 7/10 game, and that's absolutely fine for me at the moment. I don't even hate the requirement to fill up your bike with petrol relatively frequently, at least it adds and element of authenticity to the world. The hordes are a great challenge too, at least at the stage I'm at, you really don't want to mess with them...unless you kinda cheese it, which is what I did with a horde in a cave, lure a few out a bit at a time, off them, repeat until they're all gone.
  9. It certainly was part of the zeitgeist for a time, I'll give it that.
  10. My exposure to football in the US has been extremely blessed limited over the years, and will continue to be so, I imagine. My disconnect is such that when seeing the news of Messi scoring this goal my immediate thought was, I wonder what the commentator said. I realise now he said 'MESSI...could it have been...any other way', but imagine my excitement when I thought he said 'MESSI...put in the bin' as the net rippled. Missed opportunity, I feel.
  11. I had an absurd game over on FF7 (no, I don't want to talk about it) which stopped my sequential playthrough of the series in it's tracks. So, fancying a change of pace, I had a look what I had installed on my PS5 which I hadn't finished, and decided to go back to Days Gone, which I'd played maybe 90 minutes of? It's decent. Certainly the kind of change I needed.
  12. Has it's own thread on VT doesn't it? Therefore it must be considered one of the elite TV shows. As it happens we've just started watching them all from the beginning, as I'd only watched a couple of them, plus the interactive one, since they went to Netflix. There are a few stinkers, but generally they're at least worth watching, with some of them being great. We watched the Miley Cyrus one last night which I found to be the funniest so far, and a blast from start to finish. My favourite has been San Junipero.
  13. Geowizard adjacent - guy attempts to follow a river from source to sea without leaving it. He's an adventurer type with a number of videos, with somewhat superior production to Geowizards videos.
  14. Oh my goodness how could I forget the ultimate example of the bad guy wins...Sporloos! What a classic.
  15. The really funny thing with P4G is they actually went to some lengths to try and improve the start of the game and make it feel more interactive and quicker when compared to the original opening in P4
  16. Funny Games is a great example
  17. That's where we watched them, yeah - although there are means and ways of watching them earlier. The most recently aired episodes in Aus probably won't on Disney+ here for months yet
  18. Who has seen the latest episodes available in the UK of Bluey? Drop everything and watch Granny Mobile. Chef's kiss.
  19. FF6 Plat'd. The story goes that during development the team was way ahead of schedule, so much so that by the time the game was 'finished' at the point the party confront Kefka and Gestahl atop the floating continent, they thought, ya know what, we've got time to keep working on this game and do a whole other world! And thus the world of ruin was born, along with all those side quests wrapping up characters story arcs, various secrets, many new magicite, new songs, you name it...and of course the result was an unreal crunch at the end of development to get the game finished. And thank goodness they did it. For me, it's this portion of the game that permits FF6s place amongst the very best RPGs of all time, carrying perhaps the best examples of pixel art anywhere. Before the world of ruin it's a great game, the opera scene is unlike anything else really, the empires apparent betrayal after the peace talks is well executed, and the fact that there's no single main protagonist works really well for me. But...I still prefer the job system in FF5, and although it's kinda cool having your monk class character, for example, use button inputs like a proper fighting game, some characters abilities are so bad you'd be mad to use them, and some are so good you'd be mad not to. In addition in the late game, once you get the best magic from magicite, say Ultima plus the Soul of Thamasa relic for dual cast, and then recruit Gogo (mime class character) you're pretty much unbeatable against anything. Despite that, I've still never experienced anything like the world of ruin once the Warring Triad are unleashed by Kefka. It's underselling it a bit to say 'the bad guy wins', cos he kind of doesn't. That's the brilliance of Kefka's evil and why he's such an enduring villian. He doesn't want anything. In fact he wants exactly nothing, and will destroy everything - including himself - to achieve that. To rank this anything other than number one from games 1-6 would be obscene, I think. It has some of the best art (the Matsuda re-designed mechs right at the start of the game!), best story moments (the reveal of Kefka's madness, Celes' anguish in the world of ruin, Maduin's decision, the murder of Cyan's family...the list goes on), the best music (Terra's theme, Forever Love, Dancing **** Mad!), the best locations (has there ever been a more unique town than Zozo?)... As this is a platinum trophy run, it would be remiss of me not to mention the pixel remaster trophies here. They're fine on the most part, although the Joker's Death trophy, achieved by rolling all 7s on Setzer's slots, is potential nightmare fuel as the game is rigged to not allow you to hit it every time (odds of 1 in 32 apparently) even if your timing is frame perfect. I got real lucky with this, and used the pause method to get it. Otherwise, the trophies push you to some of those really well integrated extras in the world of ruin, such as the arena which is quite a unique addition (auto battle only with your selected char using whatever they want). Clear time was 26:52 which demonstrates some of the really good RNG I got with slots, battle formations on the Veldt for Gau's rage, spawn rates of rare mobs and so on. It's not a precise time as I did try and get joker's death via auto battle, meaning I wasn't probably...2 hours? Due to hitting 7-7-BAR which kills your party rather than the enemy. Total play time up to 98:33, really pleased with getting the six pixel remaster plats in under 100 hours. Also really pleased I did it this way. It might sound odd, but as an unashamed fan boy of the series, to have something tangible as an achievement is really satisfying. Rolling ranking 6 5 4 3 1 2 I am presented with a bit of an issue now though. I enjoyed 6 so much I've put barely anytime in to 16. And now 6 is done, I just want to continue in chronological order and do 7...I think I might try and play them concurrently, and then go back to 16 and do the Final Fantasy mode run after I've done 15.
  20. They're building the new engine in Unity I believe, which will be a complete game changer, it could like more like FIF- sorry, EA Sports FC than FM as we know it. What is interesting is that should invite some crazy opportunities for the mod community. Stadium edits, player model edits, shirt edits... FM23 has been the most played FM by some distance, so you have to wonder how much 25 will cater more to the casual player. They've been pretty accommodating over the years to old school fans though, so perhaps there will be functionality to more or less ignore the graphical changes.
  21. Well, yes. Two witnesses reported hearing screams at different times. The times given for hearing those screams aren't compatible with the digital evidence (her phone), so were dismissed as given the time line established, she was already dead by then.
  22. It sure was daaaannnngerous! Up there with the Phoenix plex, which Kevin Steen used back in the day on the rare occasion someone wanted to take it, and Dragon Lee infamously used in his long running fued with Hiromu...and broke his neck. Don't look it up. Thank goodness he came back from it, there was a period of time where it looked like he might not.
  23. FFXVI release day! Very short early impressions - it's good, but it's not great.
