  1. Tough away game - but not tougher than Spurs or Brighton. We'll have to be right up for it but we can win.
  2. It probably weakens our squad in the short term. But it's not pointless if it gives us £12m or so profit for a player who is 4 years younger - especially if that allows us more flexibility to get a key target for the first XI.
  3. It's Villa all the way but I also used to go and watch Wenger's Arsenal as a kid sometimes, and I live around the area, so I am certainly hoping they win the league above City + United. I was also a student in Nottingham so was happy to see Forest back up although the signing of 24 new players is a bit much.
  4. The desperation to move players who are clearly connected with Aston Villa to 'other football' at the first possible moment is an odd moderating choice in my humble opinion.
  5. If Chris Wood is worth £20m to relegation threatened Newcastle then there's no way in hell Ings should be sold for less than that. He is arguably our best striker and can make the difference from the bench as well as starting. Also, if he goes there he could help keep a long term rival in the league. I'm sure we could get £10-15m for him in the summer, and could understand if we cashed in then. But unless we are sure we have an excellent option lined up to replace him, the type that is hard to get in Jan, I would really rather we didn't sell now.
  6. Hard not to get excited about a young forward from abroad, but we probably shouldn't expect too much too soon. Will be interesting to see what sort of role he has for the remainder of the season. We certainly need a first team quality winger as well if at all possible.
  7. Perhaps you are right but you could say the same for Ings who I thought may start in his place. Anyway, pleased for him. Would love him to find some consistency.
  8. Slightly better Insta output than -"Happy birthday have a boss day"
  9. I personally was surprised he started after the last two performances. Unai knows best. Mixed bag from him but his directness made the difference. He has it in him for sure, just needs to make better decisions at times.
  10. Like Kamara he is another one who looks like a Champions League level player and serial title winner. Hero. Wish he was 5 years younger but he definitely looks to have another season in him after this.
  11. Yeah very promising from him. Took up some nice positions, got up and down well, some good touches in tight spots. Saved a goal but should possibly have scored one too. But Digne would not have been there at all.
  12. Was a joy to watch him in the flesh last night. My MOTM. Elite player.
  13. He needs a proper chant. Guy won the World Cup ffs, and **** a golden hand in front of a sheikh. Surely there's enough material.
  14. I don't disagree with that, but they are well oiled and have been playing (and winning) under Silva for some time. We are at the start of another project. I really think this one will work out but I think it'll take time and they are a lot slicker than us as things stand.
  15. Fulham are miles better than us. Sad to say but they have a far superior level of consistency and one of the most reliable strikers in the league.
  16. Yes the atmosphere was terrific with Smith and Grealish when we were tearing up the Championship. Unfortunately the home fans struggle to get up for it in normal games. We're not grateful just to be in the PL like Palace/Brentford etc, and we're also not doing well enough to get people excited like Newcastle. There are also a lot of miserable gits groaning about every missed pass and getting on the backs of certain players. The booing at half time v Wolves was embarrassing. There's also a real lack of imagination in terms of songs These challenges aren't unique to Villa and I would hope a decent run of home results under Unai would help shift the atmosphere a bit. The Gerrard era was bleak AF so it takes some time to recover. Trajectory is key. We know VP can be a rocking atmosphere - hopefully we get one on Friday night.
  17. Nice to see ex players like Delfouneso still have fondess for the club
  18. My first trip to VP since Smith. Can't wait. I am confident we are at the start of an exciting new era under Emery - he'll need support from the home ground and I'll certainly be giving it. Also **** Leeds.
  19. I'd prefer to keep Cash but if there's a good fee he's far from irreplaceable, especially on this season's form.
  20. For me, next season: First choice - Martinez, Carlos, Mings, Kamara, Luiz Squad options (don't sell) - Cash, Ireogbunam, Ramsey, Buendia, Watkins Squad options (open for offers) - Steer, Konsa, Chambers, Digne, Sanson, Dendoncker, McGinn, Bailey, Ings Please leave - Olsen, Steer, Augustinsson, Bednarek, Nakamba, Coutinho, Wesley, Davis, Traore, Hause. To sign - 1x back up GK, 1x RB, 1x LB, 1x CB, 1/2x winger/AM, 1x forward I'm not sure we would get the offers for all the squad players that we'd want, and they can all contribute something. But plenty of ins and outs required over the next couple of windows without doubt.
  21. Yeah he was the worst of a dire bunch. Shocking. I am losing faith that he'll ever deliver.
  22. Today has demonstrated how much guff we need to get rid of from this squad. Emery is top manager but this is a real long term project.
  23. Will be interested to see how the midfield is set up. Will Luiz or Sanson be one of the midfielders to play wide? And will Bailey play wide with Coutinho up top or vice versa?
  24. He wasn't great. Feel like he's not consistent enough to be a regular starter. Howler at the end too. Shame, he's a good squad option but we have to upgrade - such a vital position and we need reliable quality.
