  1. Richard.. I'm hoping that your post means that Hutton could be next? (after Vlaar in and Collins out)
  2. I completely agree. Irrespective of his lifestyle, he is probably going to be one of Englands striking options for the next ten years. I'd happily see a squad like this: ----------------- Given ------------------- ---------- Vlaar ------- Clark ------------ Lowton ------------------------ Cresswell --------- El Ahmadi - Ireland ------------ Holman ------------------------- N'Zogbia ------------ Bent ----- Carroll ------------ Bench: Guzan, Dunne, Lichaj, Makoun, Bannan, Albrighton, Gabby Though Ireland has been playing in the wider roles, and I have a feeling that Lambert likes Bannan in a central midfield position.
  3. Milton's stapler is to him what Makoun's jumper is to the world
  4. Fletcher has been better in Premier League out of the 2. its just Carroll gets mediahype as being better player as he plays for liverpool. thinking about it i think Bent and Fletcher are too similar to play together To be fair, Carroll got some media hype when he was at Newcastle aswell
  5. I'm going to go out on a limb and say... This will be done Today! (I hope)
  6. It is a pretty crazy situation. There hasn't been a word about him on the OS. I reckon the club have just forgotten he exists and Lambert doesn't even know about him, and soon, someone will remember him and think 'Shit! I can't tell Lambert that we forgot to bring a player back off loan, he'll go mad!' Meanwhile, Makoun is stuck abroad, frantically calling Alex McLeish, trying to force out a few English words to get him back in the country. McLeish, of course, is not helping the situation by replying in Scottish. *ring ring* 'Och, whuus this cawlin mee?' 'Errrrr, bonjour, McLaaish, errrrr, eees Jeandeux' 'What tha fook did you seeey laddie? Someone should show Lambert a picture of Makoun in his jumper. That's all you need to know about him.
  7. The player is apparently worth 9m Euros on the open market. He isn't going to be as good as a Vidic or Kompany, but if he is another Mellberg then I will be delighted! I think he'll be 'our Hangeland'. A good, solid Premier League defender that, on occasion, will be praised for his performances, but is not quite good enough for the teams challenging for the title.
  8. How old was Craig Gardner when he was sold to sha? 22 was it? All Craig showed in his time at Villa was that he could kick the ball really hard and had a knack of picking up a yellow card per game. Then, he leaves and scores a handful of goals from midfield for the stinkers down the road! Give GG a bit of time, he will come good, I'm sure of it. He has often been praised as the 'golden boy' of the reserves - which included Albrighton, Delfouneso, Bannan, Wiemann & Clark. The other lads have had their fair share of games in the first team and this is all Gary needs to get up to speed and really make his mark.
  9. and are expected to challange for promotion to the Premier League next season. This means nothing. Bolton,Blackburn and Wolves all have very strong sides. The Shit arent that bad lets be honest. and then theres the money bags Nottm Forest,Hull,Watford and Leicester.... it will be incredibly tough. So it is way too early to predict anything ? I think LondonLax's point was more to do with the fact that Amo69 was saying £6m is too expensive for a player in a third tier English team. Whereas, it's a team who are generally around the upper(ish) end of the second tier.
  10. I know someone who walked past a charity shop in Harborne, not far from where he lives, and saw that someone had left a load of star wars toys outside the charity shop (which was shut). He grabbed his wife and asked her to help him carry what they could back to their house. I don't blame him either! He got a Millenium Falcon and a Thai Fighter (sp?) - both are just short of a metre long and have loads of cool gadgets, buttons and sound effects!
  11. I watched this last night and I enjoyed it. It was a bit long, but I guess it needed to be with the amount of shit that happened. I liked the ending. I completely agree with what jon_c said a few pages back:
  12. Hey, I believe what I ws told too, I had no reason not to. But now? Well god knows what's happening with this transfer. I've heard nowt for about a week now On the more substantive points about lambert being backed etc I still believe that, I mean of all the things I have had since the end of May everything else has been spot on. Even on this transfer it doesnt appear to be totally over but who knows. I will be more circumspect though with anything else from now on so as not to give some their pound of flesh We still believe you have good info, Richard. Just like most of us still believe MM, Gazton & thetrees. Even if a deal falls through, it doesn't mean that the 'itk' was spouting BS.
  13. Cheers for the info US lads! It's interesting to hear. Maybe we'll see Collins sticking around, and it's actually Warnock/ Dunne/ Hutton that are being offered to other clubs? I can see KEA cementing his place in central midfield. But who will partner him? That's the big question. Why didn't Dunne and Herd train, are they injured?
  14. Surely Aston Villa's first priority should be to back their new manager when he identifies players to improve the first team. That was Randy's priority when O'Neill brought in Sidwell/ Beye/ Davies/ Heskey (etc etc etc) on high wages. Perhaps Randy is now trying to correct previous errors by having the priority as 'backing the manager (within a sensible wage structure) when he identifies players to improve the first team' ? Maybe Vlaar's demands didn't fit into that. Or maybe Lambert does need to offload one of Collins/ Warnock/ Dunne/ Hutton before we can bring in another defender?
  15. For his first few seasons with us, I kept saying that his best ability was his dribbling skills. He had the knack of dribbling around players (Premier League, may I add!) with the ball barely leaving his foot. I always thought his best position would have been the ACM/ in-the-hole role, just because of his dribbling ability. I personally wouldn't go as far as saying that his 'good attack' is non existent. It's there, it just hasn't been seen consistently for a long while.
  16. I'd actually prefer we kept Collins and shipped out Dunne. Collins is younger and isn't as error prone as Dunne. Neither of them would be my first choice centreback, but I'd rather keep Collins on the bench as our backup, than Dunne; eating up our wages (amongst other things).
  17. I finally started my Skyrim game last week, I'm a Dark Elf and all I've done is a few hours of short quests so far.
  18. I'll see your Shakespeare and raise you one 'Faulkner'.
  19. I'm not sure, but the fashion expert doing the article is called 'Maaike Dijks'. I wonder if that's his/her full name.
  20. I've always disagreed with that 'infinite monkeys + infinite typewriters + infinite time = complete works of Shakespear' stuff. If you said, "A machine will type randomly for an infinite amount of time", then I'd believe it. But monkey's have brains, and the idiots will probably find a certain key on the typewriter or a shape on the page that they like. Therefore, it's not completely random, and the 'random' aspect of it is the whole point of the 'infinite + infinite' thing. Also, the monkey's would probably just shit on the paper. If someone said an infinite amount of monkey's shitting on paper will produce the complete works of Shakespear... I might believe it
