  1. We probably wouldn't get far you are right. However you can't just go up, sell 14 players, keep 7 and then buy a new 14. The reason the club will look at a 3 year stabilizing plan when we go up is to drip feed new players in. For example sign a new center midfielder to start, sell Lansbury, Hourihane then has competition to start for a year. Sign a defensive midfielder, sell one of Whelan or Jedinak (not both) The reason we went down two years ago is because we tried to sign a complete new team and it failed miserably. It's pretty much why Blues are in the position they are currently in also. In my opinion, with the squad we currently have, playing as they currently are we would do well against a lot of the lower Premiership teams, add a bit of quality to that and we would have a fair shot of finishing near the top of the bottom half of the Prem. Keep adding over the 3 years and the club will be back competing in the league. Unfortunately gone are the days of getting promoted and immediately signing a load of world class footballers.
  2. Class again today, different level compared to the majority of Championship players. Ghosts past players as though they aren't there
  3. Can the club try to sort out the state of our food and drinks outlets in the ground (the Holte at least). Surely they must realise they are losing out on money every game from the fans who either can't be bothered to queue or leave the queue as they don't think they will have time to get served before the second half starts. I can't understand why there aren't more drink only stands with pre-poured pints ready 5 minutes before half time begins. Let's be honest it tastes pretty poor anyway in the ground, standing in a glass for 5 minutes won't make it any worse. They also seem to have 3 people serving one person at each till, really strange!
  4. An away side that won their last home game 5-0
  5. Brilliant, thanks very much mate that's really helpful stuff!
  6. OLED vs QLED... can anyone enlighten me on what I should be buying?
  7. And ignore the fact that we are the same standard as the opposition. Our side in the Premier League would currently get battered every week. It's just where we currently are as a club.
  8. What are the words to the Albert Adomah song that has been started? I couldn't work it out at the game last night.
  9. From his brother... I'm pretty sure West Ham have no recall clause in the loan deal.
  10. He's bang on with 11 million I've taken the fees from transfermarkt.com... they look to be fairly acurate In Hogan - 9.45m Hourihane - 3.15m Bree - 3.15m Lansbury - 3.06m Bjarnason - 1.8m Whelan - 1.53m Elmo - 990k Total - 23.13m Out Gestede - 6.39m Ayew - 5.31m Westwood - 5.22 Veretout - 6.3m Baker - 3.9m Sanchez - 2.7m Amavi - 1.8m Bacuna - 1.35m Total 34.32
  11. Yep I'm not saying a loan signing won't be fine (by the sounds of it we don't have much choice), I just think we need to be ruthless and get someone in intending to play them for the rest of the season. I like Hogan and I really want him to do well for us but there's a massive question over whether he can bag us the goals over the remainder of the season whilst remaining injury free. If we aren't able to get anyone in till the end of January this gives 2 games to cement his place in the side.
  12. I would say we need someone a lot better, if you want to get promoted in this league you need an in form striker regularly scoring. Although we have been unlucky with Kodjia we have been fortunate that Adomah has scored 12 goals this season, however it's unlikely he will keep up that rate playing out wide. Striker wise, Davis has 2, Gabby 1, Hogan 1 & Kodjia 1 Teams around us have a striker banging in goals... Wolves (Bonatini 12, Jota 11, Cavaleiro 7), Derby (Vydra 14, Nugent 6, Winnall 6), Cardiff (Hoilett 6, Ward 4, Zohore 4), Bristol City (Reid 12, Diedhiou 5) Unfortunately this is proving the difference for us currently. Granted the team are chipping in with goals but if we had a 20 goal a season striker (Kodjia) playing week in week out we would now be competing with Wolves on goals scored and possibly (Bruce's tactics aside) competing with them points wise.
  13. Exactly... 28 Feb 2010, Manchester United in the Carling Cup Final at Wembley... if you had said to me that day 'this club is now going to fall off the rails for the next 8 years' I would have laughed in your face
  14. Steer RDL Bree Terry Taylor O'Hare Doyle-Hayes Onomah Green Davis RHM Would like to see Davis & RHM play together as I think they would work well as a duo. I would imagine Whelan will be played over Onomah or with a 3 man midfield and 1 striker. FYI - Hogan is injured for this one...
  15. Whilst I agree the performances are not to the standard we should be expecting this season, the facts are that we are winning more games than we have done for a number of years... So far in the league this season we have won 12 games, 5 more wins will take us to more wins than we did last season. A target that should be very much achievable at this stage of the season. Granted you play 6 extra games a season in this league but that would only be 3 wins at the most based on averages from our recent seasons. 2017/18 - 12 wins (20 games to play) 2016/17 - 16 wins 2015/16 - 3 wins 2014/15 - 10 wins 2013/14 - 10 wins 2012/13 - 10 wins 2011/12 - 7 wins 2010/11 - 12 wins 2009/10 - 17 wins I think this also show's just how poor we have been since 2009/10 as a football club!
  16. I actually think these runs were really useful in the last game, he instantly pulled a midfielder out of play to track him and panicked their center back and full back. 9 times out of 10 we either won't see the run or he won't manage to bring the ball down if played to him, but it creates space in the midfield for players like Grealish to receive the ball and have some time on it.
  17. Elphick has been immense over the last few games, I would leave him in in the side for a few more weeks until JT is fully fit and ready to play again. Love his passion at the end of the games.
  18. No, completely different to when it was done for O'Leary. Just get behind the team at Villa Park.
  19. I actually quite like this side. Davis & Whelan both need a rest so leaving them at home makes sense today. Give both Onomah and Jedinak 45 minutes to step up their game and then introduce Grealish second half against a tired defence. Really want to see RHM today, I think he could make an impact.
  20. Best player on the pitch today, it was a shame the players around him let him down.
  21. Can't understand how anyone can blame Johnstone for the goals... First one he came off his line to cover for the centre backs, realised he wasn't making it and backtracked. Realistically if he had stayed on his line it would have been a one on one and still a goal. Second one was a one on one and he was unlucky. Jedinak's error all day long.
  22. Hogan's best chance of scoring goals is either playing off Davis or with Grealish in behind him. Today he was brought on with Davis going off and Grealish moving wide. He then had balls lumped forward for the last 15 minutes. Confidence is shattered, a goal or two playing in a team set up to aid him would do him the world of good.
  23. Even by January 2nd this league could look very different. We play 2 of the teams in the top 6, if we can take points there then we are back in it ( I know its a big if) Wolves are gone now, like Newcastle last season there is no point discussing catching them. Cardiff will slip at some point, although they have the easiest Christmas run in. Bristol have Wolves and Villa to play. Derby have Hull, Ipswich and Sheff Utd to play. Sheff Utd have Villa and Derby. As always its up to us to get back on the front foot and pick some points up in a crucial period. We just need Bruce to step up and let us play in a way we all know we can.
  24. Johnstone Hutton Chester Elphick Taylor Hourihane Jedinak Snodgrass Grealish Adomah Davis Subs: Steer, Elmo, RDL, Whelan, Onomah, Hogan, Agbonlahor Hard decision on Jedinak or Elphick at the back, but I think we need to take Whelan out of the firing line for a week or two. Elphick should also have a bit more experience at CB against a decent striker in Leon Clarke. Davis back in as the focal point of the attacks, switching him for Hogan if it's not working. Grealish to retain his place over Onomah as he is our best attacking outlet currently.
