  1. Likewise didn’t know a thing about him 2 weeks ago so won’t she’s a tear. The only annoying thing is it seems several clubs are looking to fill this position and it was nice to know we’d stolen a march on them and got a key appointment sorted early. I work in recruitment and this type of thing happens all the time. Humans are very annoying.
  2. Pretty sure it’s about £500.
  3. No lack of nuance from this Villa fan just some misreading of my post from you but no worries. "If" was the key word there. I was just saying Unai has earned capital to do whatever he wants and I'd agree that Mings will likely be a central player for him.
  4. Agree with all of that which is what I was trying to say above. Only caveat is that Unai Emery' shoes know more about football than me. So for all we know he might want an attacking CB to help us create more chances and dominate possession thereby conceding fewer chances and goals anyway. If Unai wants this man and to throw Tyronne Mings in the bomb squad I will think its harsh but he has my trust to do whatever the hell he likes with this team.
  5. I know we are being linked with everyone at the moment so who knows what actually ends up happening. However what I will say is without Europe its difficult to see how the likes of Pau Torres and Ugarte make too much sense. Mings and Luiz both have an excellent shout of being player of season. You dont bring in someone on big money to replace that player without them being seriously pissed off. If we have loads of games and its about competition then great but heavily contingent on Europe in my book. Our defense and midfield has been very very good under Emery, its attacking positions which need addressing.
  6. I think the high line works because Konsa and Mings are both very quick so are able to recover if needed. Only team I've seen really exploit it is Utd and even they only had 1 or 2 chances of the back of it.
  7. He obviously isn’t shit. He’s a very solid PL player but not someone who would get into a top 6 side which is why none of them have tried to buy him despite his impressive numbers over the years.
  8. Congratulations - you win the internet today.
  9. I think they will see a point as enough and given how we've struggled against teams that drop deep I'd expect them to do just that. Give us the ball but make it difficult for us and back their attacking players to hit us on the break. Will be interesting to see how that works out. The golden rule of PL (especially under Emery) still holds. First goal wins.
  10. Agreed seems like Felix all over again. That said it seems like we might chase a few of these type of players this summer and who knows we might land one. Big clubs can’t buy everyone even though Chelsea might have a good go.
  11. Lets see. Getting linked with a different world star every day at this point so who knows what comes off. That said if we are looking to replace Luiz in starting 11 (a man currently in second place for fans player of year on VT), then we are REALLY not messing around.
  12. Could I get a Tier level check on Jordan Davies please?
  13. That year was first thing that jumped to my mind too
  14. I wonder if it might be a loan because can’t see City taking the haircut required on fee for Phillips and can’t see anyone willing to pay a decent fee when he hasn’t been fit for so long except maybe West Ham if they sell Rice. Walker - prize but probably the perfect player for what we need in that position. Pace, played most of his career against top class opposition and generally always performed well, used to playing in possession based team. The wages, personality and age would be painful but if it gets us into Europe so be it.
  15. Clutching at some seriously invisible straws here. But if City actually did get some kind of punishment for the many years of flagrant cheating (don’t laugh ). Would that potentially open up another European spot?
  16. If it was Otavio - they would probably have been impressed by this.
  17. Harold Makoudi - was that the guy who was basically signed until he met Bruce and thought better of it.
  18. I think the media will link us to everyone but I’d be surprised if we buy anyone from them to be honest. Feels like that would have to be breaking some kind of rule if a transfer goes through while he’s working for both teams.
  19. Presumably he will end his career in US then? Difficult to see where else he could go. Newcastle if they wanted to make a statement, he obviously has Saudi connections. Don’t see any of the big clubs in PL paying enough to make it happen.
  20. Am I the only one who thinks they’d have stayed up fairly comfortably under Marsh?
  21. His form has dipped this year, but TBF his position in Emery system has required one of the largest adjustments from his natural game. Funnily enough he was starting to really hit form just as he got injured. Him coming back to help for last few games would be very welcome in my book.
  22. An interesting game, as with every game in this run I’ve no idea how it’ll play out. Young has shown himself to be vulnerable to pace in recent weeks so sticking Rashford on him and Wan Bissaka to nullify Moreno are two very obvious moves. Will be interesting to see how the master Unai prepares us to counter that. I’d back Watkins to cause their defence problems. Let’s hope they travel up to Manchester the night before so he can get a good nights kip in.
