Gerrard would be on the same level of disappointment as when we hired McLeish and Bruce, or when we signed Heskey. Would just feel like years wasted until we got someone else to replace him. Would have me lose all faith in our football people. Never know, he might succeed, but feels like once again we have people running the show who just want's to bring in their mates.

Honestly I don't know, neither about our owners nor football people, or about how attractive we are as a club to established bigger names. I don't think we would be able to poach someone like Ten Hag or Christophe Galtier for example, maybe Peter Bosz from Lyon or Sampaoli from Marseille would be possible. Said previously I hope we don't go for big name ex players like Gerrard or Lampard (or Terry ) as they are still learning the job. But at the same time I'd be very excited about that Salzburg kid Matthias Jaissle so go figure Think Germany might be the most interesting place to look for managers but there was such a massive turnaround there this summer so not sure those guys are up to moving again this soon. Maybe Gerardo Seoane from Leverkusen could be a name we look at. Honestly I've no idea what to expect.

Have no issue with Grealish posting that. Don't doubt for a second he cares about or Villa or that he didn't like Smith. Yeah he left for greener pastures, it sucks, but that's part of football and I don't really blame him even though I'd obviously hoped he'd stayed here his whole career.
