I'd much rather we play Delfouneso and Weimann more often than buy Robbie Keane. Waste of money, hinders developement and potential value of our youth players and massive wages. Everything about it seems wrong IMO, especially if we're going to be playing 4-5-1, which IMO is our best formation.

Agreed BOF, if posters doubt Clark because they've only watched him twice then let me set your minds at rest, he is that good each time he plays. He can also be "Laursen like" at set pieces. I would be writing out very long contracts for both Ciaran and Marc if I were Randy. Well he does play against reserves. I know he looks good but I don't want to get carried away with the young players, if he plays against a top half team I think he may struggle but there's only one way to find out....

Well that's why he's saying he's 'thinking about it'. He doesn't want to accept because obviously he'd love the job but it's whether he thinks he can hack it, whether he wants to make sacrifices for the job and whether he thinks he'd satisfy the Villa fans. You don't want him to jump in a job as big as this without properly thinking the move through.

Carew had a shocker. If he played well it would have been 7. I don't mind though, I'd rather he has a shocker now than when he is needed.

It'd be silly to play Beye at CB. He has no positional sense at CB at all, Clark may be young, but I'm sure he is a better CB than Beye. Also West Ham are likely to play one striker up front so we should let Dunne have Cole, but if they do play 2 strikers up front, I'm sure Clark can handle it, he must have played against better strikers than Carlton Cole and Piquionne.

From what I saw of what Redknapp said, I don't see anything wrong with it. He just said he's got to aim to win the league because if you don't, you're never going to achieve anything which is true. Also that the same teams are winning the league every season and we need to try to do something about it. Villa should have this aim as well.

I saw Moyes said in his press conference how West Ham bid £6 million last month for Yakubu but offered £5 million for him a couple of days ago. To be honest Moyes should have took the £6 million and run but he obviously thinks he can get more out of him, I don't see it.

Lichaj was signing a contract a long time ago. These things take time and he wouldn't have just signed a contract in 2 days after MON left. I;m not sure whether he's a good prospect, because I've never seen him in a proper game. Would like to see him in the early rounds of the Carling Cup or Europa League to see just how good he is.

dodykness, your Man City mate is probably right though, in that Delph and Delfouneso will probably move on to Man City or similar club in a fwe years time unless we get in top 4, which I doubt will happen. You could add Gary Gardner or Ciaran Clark to this list if they do make it in the Villa team.

Carvalho isn't Chelsea's best defender at all. He was but not now. Chelsea fans have been complaining about him for at least a year now, calling him a liability. Alex and Ivanovic are better players IMO.

General, what managers do you think we could realistically get who are better than MON? I can't think of one! Feels like the season has been ruined already. What happened? and Is there any way we could convince MON to come back? Sort their differences out! I think the majority of fans would rather MON stay!

Even though Weimann was only on for about 15 mins, he impressed me. Especially when Salifou whacked a great pass straight to Weimann's chest and he controlled the ball brilliantly and won a foul on the edge of the box. Really good play. Salifou looked good as well. I think our squad is a lot better than a lot of Villa fans think. I really don't think we need to sign a striker anymore. If we sell Heskey, we've got Gabby, Carew, Fonz and Weimann. If we get Ireland in we should play 4-5-1 and play Ireland in behind the striker. This means most of the time we wouldn't even need 4 strikers. Basically I'm just saying the match showedme just how good some of our fringe players and youth players are. All of them looked like they should be playing for a club like Villa, not out of their depth.
