  1. I've seen games where nearly all the team were tightly marking Messi and he still managed to score a goal or create a goal without the help of team mates.
  2. I'm not worried about Villa playing against Tevez, Silva, Milner, Adebayor etc. We need to look out for 2nd best player in the world Balotelli, he'll destroy us if we don't keep a very close eye on him.
  3. If Messi played for Wigan, they'd probably be around top 4 IMO.
  4. Man City will be getting their easiest 3 points of the season tomorrow. No doubt about it.
  5. But Pele played against very poor teams didn't he? Teams that pale in comparison to modern day teams. Maybe the comparison with Bent or Defoe is a bit harsh, but what I mean is that I think he was just a poacher, not much else. Just my opinion.
  6. Does anybody not think that Houllier didn't play Reo-Coker, Petrov, Clark and Bannan from the start because he's doing something called rotation. Something that MON could not do whatsoever. I think he'll these players against Man City and give Delph a rest for Chelsea.
  7. Defoe's sending off was very harsh I thought. But I've got to agree with the criticism of Bale. He's very good, but the only thing he ever seems to do is just kick it past the RB and sprint onto the ball. I don't see why so many people think he's the next Messi.
  8. I'm too young to ever see Maradona play, but from the clips I've seen of him, Messi looks the much better player IMO. I just think that of the clips of Maradona that is always on TV, the defending just looks very bad, whereas with Messi, he easily goes past defences where the defence has done nothing wrong, it's just his brilliance. My opinion probably doesn't count for much though seen as I've never saw Maradona play. And I agree with the Spurs fan about Pele. I reckon he was probably the equivalent of Jermaine Defoe or Darren Bent of the 60s, 70s. Just a poacher, nothing much else about him.
  9. That article sounds like he is already in training. I think he's saying he wants to be back playing early Jan.
  10. I thought Gary Cook was a miracle worker and a great guy. What do you think of him now? haha
  11. That for me depending on Gabby's fitness. Toss up between Warnock and Luke Young for left back as well, both have been poor this season. That's harsh. I think Luke Young has done quite well. Warnock has been poor without a doubt though.
  12. Shame about Tevez. Is he going to play in a shit Argentinian league from now on then? And what club could afford him? Barry looks to be playing quite well for City from what I've seen of him. His form seems to be very up and down at City whereas he was nearly always in good form whilst at Villa.
  13. But the thing is we didn't have a manager at the time And I think Gyan was overpriced. Would never pay £13 million for him. Not that great at all. Just a decent world cup.
  14. I always thought it was a bit weird with Ochoa how he was/is rated so highly on all the games, yet a 5"8 keeper who can't deal with crosses at all was ahead of him in the pecking order for Mexico.
  15. I'd agree that the only thing that 'Welcome to Manchester' poster showed is how small time Man City not only think of themselves, but how they want to portray themselves to the rest of the world. And what I also don't get, Man City crow about all of their charity work quite publicly, but why do they have Etihad airways sponsoring them? Surely they don't need the money and it could go to a better cause. It was just something that was bugging me for a while now.
  16. Dunne and Collins probably want to shift the blame onto him. Against Liverpool, Dunne, Collins and Warnock all seemed to be screaming at Clark. Thought it was very harsh and not helpful.
  17. Looking at all the bids for both 2018 and 2022 world cups in a logical way, I thought it was out of England or Spain/Portugal for 2018, but England would get it because Portugal have recently held a major football competition and England hasn't hosted a world cup since 1966, and I thought the 2022 world cup was going to be hosted by either USA or Australia, but probably Australia as they've never hosted a world cup before. You just get a massive feeling of 'What's the point?'
  18. Why can't the whole world just pull out of FIFA and every country invent a fair governing body for football together, which there would not be a base, and then just leave Sepp Blatter and his colleagues in charge of nothing at all. It would only take a few major footballing nations to force everbody else to follow. For example, if England, Brazil and Argentina make up a new governing body, then others would follow. However, I don't really understand how all this stuff works, and I doubt many do.
  19. 2010 really has been a shit year, both for England and Villa
  20. The flare was actually a Villa flare. But that doesn't excuse a Blues fan for throwing it into a group of Villa fans who were locked inside the ground and couldn't move.
  21. We have not been unlucky so far this season. I still maintain that you make your own luck, shocking defence.
  22. I reckon the game is 100% going to be on. No need to worry. The snow isn't that bad.
  23. Those laws they demand are ridiculous. FIFA really need to change their rules, they are exploiting football for themselves.
  24. I was also very impressed with Delfouneso, all things considered, he did very well IMO. Would like to see him come on against Blues partnered with Gabby. And if that fails, bring on Carew!
  25. Chris Foy is the ref for the match. Seems a big game for him.
