  1. i think part of the reason i can't get excited about the UECL is because i can see us making a real go for the league and sacking it off when we get to the business end of the season. if not the title, then definitely top 4/5
  2. it's an ongoing myth from blues fans that villa are all from the shires and are too scared to drink in town. the reality is that you'll see plenty of claret and blue on a home matchday and won't get any problems whatsoever i don't frequent the city centre on matchday but used to like the trocadero mainly cause you can get a cheap burger and it shows football. but you'll have plenty of choice of pub really...i personally don't like the shakespere near the train station though if you want somewhere to avoid. always found it to be a dive when there's plenty of better places. as there's 8 of you, i'd just share a couple of taxis to the ground. split between the 4 of you in each cab it will cost the same if not less than a bus/train fare
  3. maybe that's why female pundits get so much criticism? they're actually trying to provide insights rather than just bants
  4. frustrating...decent point but would've been massive to win that. very scrappy game that didn't suit us at all. felt like there should've been another 2 minutes added on at least due to their time wasting during stoppage time
  5. green arrow after 4 consecutive reds. back to around 60k so pretty happy disappointed with haaland's return obviously but i still stand by he's a set and forget captain. just one less thing to think about
  6. this is probably the best place to put this. amazing that every FB/twitter link i see the majority are in agreement (and i'm not just talking daily mail/gb news links) so i'm clearly in the minority. my view is that the level you've played at has absolutely no bearing on your ability to talk about the sport. the women play the same game, same governing body, same pitch, rules etc. we watch podcasts and spend hours listening to people like bardell, max stokes, etc who (to my knowledge) have never played professional football so we're clearly happy with people who haven't played the mens professional game to talk about the sport so why does it get people so riled up when a woman does it? not to mention that a lot of these pundits last kicked a ball 10+ years ago so applying the same logic you can argue that they're no longer qualified to talk about it as the game has changed a lot in that time https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/kevin-keegan-female-pundits-england-31108293 thoughts?
  7. chris basham had a horrific injury yesterday me: "lets check twitter to see how bad it was" sees injury me: "i really wish i hadn't seen that" every. single. time.
  8. we're a fiji win away from a semi final. would've bitten your hand off for that pre-tournament probably papers over the cracks though and will be deemed a success by the RFU
  9. we should sign tavernier off bournemouth when they go down. the one player of theirs that looks half decent
  10. to be honest if someone wants to pay us a load of money just to mention their name when the added time board goes up then go for it
  11. they showed their ruthlessness in sacking o'neill so it's quite a possibility signing 50m worth of injured midfielders probably wasn't the wisest move in hindsight
  12. about 45m? i know as fans we'd WANT more, but realistically a bid of 60-70m probably would be accepted for emi from a CL side and he'd probably have pushed for that sort of move. so glad they didn't of course!
  13. son blanking is huge for us non owners. had udogie and porro plus maddison
  14. lots of folks not captaining haaland. he's actually heading for a price drop as a few have sold him. his points might actually be worth something this week
  15. they always beat us there. firmly expect them to do so again. it's their cup final. doesn't matter, it's just 1 game. let them have their annual little moment. on the plus side the weather is going to be glorious
  16. this is the key thing. if he left tomorrow, who would we be calling for to come in as his replacement? the only possible is awoniyi at forest but i've not seen enough of him to comment in terms of work rate etc and what he does off the ball compared to ollie. he's better than jackson at chelsea, better than both arsenal strikers, better than darwin nunez, and certainly this season he's better than rashford. yesterday's news is absolutely huge for us
  17. so had a play on the betfred terminals today...honestly they're so slow and clunky i'm just going to work my way through the online bookies till i get restricted from the lot. really not worth the hassle! oh and there's max stakes too - limted to around £50 e/w on one that i tried. thought i'll just do a bit on one machine and a bit on another...nope, they've got that sussed.
  18. and what happens to the old couple in their 70s that have had the same seat for the last 20 years? i do think it's asking for trouble...people will be moved out of their seats due to this singing section. and whenever the atmosphere is a bit off, fingers will be pointed at them the atmosphere is fine. i really believe it is. it was a bit off at brighton and the morstar game was never going to have the atmosphere that we had when we played ajax but i honestly think it's a non issue.
  19. didn't have to scroll down the replies long... "No villa fans there???? Trains from Lichfield bromsgrove Tamworth ect must have been delayed"
  20. i hate that goal of the season is always some 30 yarder that any PL attacker should have in their locker and any PL keeper should save if as you say, they were positioned correctly. the wonderfully worked team goals or individual brilliance never seem get a look in matty cash's 2nd vs burnley for example should be a contender. MOTD didn't even bother to show most of the build up.
  21. enjoying the documentary...interesting how people vented their abuse before social media. at least you had the bottle to (even though it's still wrong) do it to a bloke's face. to actually go through the effort of writing a hate letter, whack a stamp on it and post it, is quite an effort just to say you hate a bloke for getting sent off. now players just get monkey emojis DMed to them personally i was always in the "he's overrated" camp growing up (and got slated for that at school). however, i can't remember what game it was or whether it was for utd or england, he played a game at CM...in basically a CDM role and he was sensational. totally controlling the game, pinging balls all over the place. problem is when a player has that good a cross on them you can't not have them on the wing, but as others have said, couldn't beat a man. and whether he was correct or not in what he said, hoddle's got a lot to answer for. definitely fueled the fire.
  22. fantastic news. we can't get better than him despite what some fans think
  23. and that's the point i'm making. i don't think clubs and fans are open to it.
  24. it most definitely is not still a thing (if it ever was) i'm just sure i heard it used to be a loophole/bug in the early FPL days again, not sure where i even heard it nor if it was true
  25. what threats though? and from whom? it wasn't intended to come across as arrogant, more that the only PL side to successfully create an ultras group is palace and even that's nothing compared with european ones so it just goes to show that the appetite isn't there
