  1. Yep thats bang on. That's exactly where we will finish.
  2. Tbh this is worse. Having to avoid BBC all weekend because the FA Cup is on and having no game is really shit. Stevange FFS.
  3. Still not sure why this thread is as hot as it is. No bid from the club, nothing solid coming out of anywhere and was always a very unlikely signing in this window as I said weeks ago. Did I (genuinely) miss something? For me, we need to improve up top and on the wing. I'm very happy with our current midfield options so to splash out on a CM when we have other more pressing priorities would be a bit odd.
  4. Yes I would say that the fact that Emery has sold Ings and bought Duran indicates precisely that he feels Duran is a better option for the club. It's pretty self evident. I think Davis will be loaned out until we can find a buyer. I don't believe that we are loaning him out for his development. That horse has bolted. He is a 24 year old injury prone striker who can't score goals in the 2nd tier. We are building something at Villa and the likes of Davis, Bedbarek, Augustinsson (and I believe many more) are not part of the plan going forward. Our owners have far more ambition thankfully. He is so far from Prem quality it's not even worth discussing really, and 3 managers have agreed with that. I wouldn't want him back even if we were in the Championship. He just isn't good enough. 3 goals in 73 for Villa. As a striker. It's mind blowing really. And if those stats aren't enough, here are a few quotes from Watford fans following their game today. In the Championship as well remember: "I think I've burned more calories watching the game than Davis has playing it" "Definitely got the wrong Villa forward in during the Summer." "Davis was back, but back to his normal self"
  5. I'm not sure exactly how it works but if you don't want to read someone's posts I think you have to block them and not the other way around. At least that's how I understand it.
  6. Do you have nothing better to do than to police who has a discussion with who? Telling other posters not to have an exchange with each other isnt your job really is it?
  7. You have some very odd criteria for judging football players mate. I didn't like him cos he was not of the standard required to play for us at the level we are trying to reach. His display against Stevanage was proof of that. But crack on if you want to judge players on ridiculous criteria. i judge them on performances.* *(Unless you were being unnecessarily sarcastic of course)
  8. Well, Stevenage for one. Thought he stood out as one of the worst performers in a team of poor performances. I thought he was slow, poor going forward and caught out of postion too often. Emery clearly agrees so off he goes.
  9. Get this in other football. Terrible signing. Gosh we have signed some real crap in the last couple of years. Good riddance.
  10. That's why we need to sign a striker. It's still baffling that we let Ings go but if we don't sign a replacement this window it will be totally unfathomable that we did.
  11. Heard that before and never understood why, of all the things he had to say about him, he called him, first and foremost, "a hypocrite". I mean, come on, being a hypocrite is the very least charge you can level against Jimmy f****** Saville.
  12. Well Emery clearly does. I wouldn't play Davis if we got relegated never mind in the PL. It's a moot point in any case as he isn't coming back. We do need another striker tho, an actual goalscoring one, and I've said that for weeks. Still time of course.
  13. Selling Ings and recalling Davis would arguably be the worst decision of any Villa manager in recent memory. As such, there's not a cat in hells chance it will happen. A proven Premier League goalscorer for a man who can't hit a barn door in the Championship. He will be off in the summer for a couple of million. If we want to compete for a top half place, we need quality players in every position. Thankfully, Emery amd the board know that.
  14. Don't ever underestimate the pull of London. It's a hell of bonus being based in the capital. Doubt he will go to either them or us in this window tho.
  15. I said he would do a good job in League 1. As in score some goals. 1 in 12 is a terrible return for a striker in any league but in the Championship its shocking. I reckon he would get double figures in League 1. Just my opinion.
  16. According to his Wiki stats, he has scored 12 goals in 106 matches. That's 1 in 9. Many of these will be subs appearances of course, but that tells its own story. Most of his appearances and almost "all" his goals were in the 2nd tier. He is a striker that doesn't score. I said years ago that he could do a good job in League 1 and I stand by that. He has the physicality for that level. If he can stay fit. Big if there tho.
  17. There is no football this weekend. The FA Cup ceased to exist when we got knocked out. As it does every year as far as I'm concerned. Couldn't care less about it and won't watch a second of this or any other round.
  18. That would be better. And definitely more appropriate than the current title.
  19. And you have to hope they beat Forest as well, which they will of course, because there's no way Newcastle would lose to them in the final. Man United are the only way Newcastle won't win the Cup. Top 4 and a trophy within a year of being taken over potentially. How the hell is this all happening so quick?
  20. Hoping Man United beat them in the final. Surely Newcastle's form will have dipped by then. Can only hope.
  21. Amazing. Although a real comparison with the English league in terms of quality is like a National League South side, losing to a pub team. Scottish football is bloody awful. Lol
  22. It absolutely is. Not looking behind us is great. Long may it continue!
  23. We would have to finish on 60 plus points to catch Spurs and that's just not happening this season. I really wanna finish in the top half. 12 years is far far too long. I believe we havebt been top team in the Midlands in that time either, so putting those 2 to bed would be a great season and a great start to the Emery era. We need to finish above Fulham.
