  1. I can't wait for Sheffield United Vs West Brom later in the season. That's going to be edge-of-your-seat stuff.
  2. In all fairness, it's a hell of a lot better than whatever the hell West Brom are doing.
  3. What's worse, going toe to toe with one of the top teams in the PL and losing due to a dodgy penalty, or getting battered by Blackburn Rovers while your lodgers go above you in the league?
  4. He already doesn't I can't see our board sanctioning any deal for him.
  5. I suspect he saw Martial coming in for the ball and positioned himself to save the shot in case Mings missed it. Unfortunately, Mings redirected the ball onto his head so it went the other way. Nothing he could do about that at all.
  6. It depends on what business, if any, we do in the January window. Come next season, we'll be a force to be reckoned with for sure.
  7. I'd say we're paying pretty well tbh. Looking back at the goal, Martial did well to get into that position and was very lucky the ball bounced into his head from Mings. Mings was unlucky that happened, but I don't think he knew Martial was there. There's still plenty of time and I have no reason to doubt we can still get something here.
  8. I've seen enough this season to know that whatever happens tonight, we're a good team.
  9. Upped my prediction to 7-10. I think we are capable of doing better, but I don't expect it. I'd still be happy with 11th given the 17th finish last season, but in the context of this season a top half finish is on the cards. Whatever happens, this side of an epic capitulation, we've done very well indeed.
  10. I understand why they won't - our owners have played their cards close to their chest since day one and it's been a good tactic so far. It's frustrating for fans to be kept in the dark about these things, but whatever they share with us, they share with everyone. Saying that, I would at least like to know whether the decision is his or Man City's. Can he turn them down of they come knocking or is he contractually obligated to go back there?
  11. Fair enough, but the ball would have to be about 11 feet in the air before Emi couldn't get a good grip on it.
  12. Honest question, when is punching it away ever better than catching it? I can't really think of any situation.
  13. It's tough because El Ghazi is definitely the better player overall, but Trez is much more consistent. AEG is in great form right now and I hope he can keep it up, but I couldn't see myself keeping him ahead of Trez. His tenacity was crucial in our survival last season.
  14. Maybe the grass was too long? Everybody's learned their Achilles' heel.
  15. I didn't even think they'd managed as many as 10 shots.
  16. Excuse us. We're used to watching a keeper actually catch a ball regularly, something that seems to be a rarity just lately.
  17. By this logic, Wolves, Arsenal and Leicester all need to watch their back.
  18. I've mentioned this to the bluenose I work with. Arguably the worst Villa have ever been in our entire history, and we were still better than them.
  19. Dean Smith said it best. I recall him pointing out that football is entertainment, and that's what the fans really want to see. Pragmatism will keep you in the league you're in, but it won't win you any more fans.
  20. To be fair, very often after we score the camera cuts to Smith, who barely seems to react. Sometimes he doesn't even smile. I don't doubt his allegiance, though.
  21. Second half, yes. First half was more even. Leeds scored an early penalty that was stupidly conceded by Nick Pope. Burnley went on to have a perfectly good goal ruled out because of a foul that wasn't a foul, similar to the Lansbury incident against Palace last season. Burnley then went on to dominate the second half, but we're unable to capitalise. Whether Leeds have burned out or not is up for debate, but Burnley should never be in control of a game. That should concern them a bit.
  22. The main difference is that Sheff U don't have the same defensive solidity they enjoyed last season. That seems to be down to the keeper - they don't seem to be under any more pressure than they were last season, but Henderson was over-performing while Ramsdale is not. That seems to be the difference. Sam Johnstone > Aaron Ramsdale, and that might just save them come the end of the season.

    Wolves

It is very good, but it's worth noting that most of those goals came from a centre forward position.
  24. Just looked at our stats. They make for interesting reading. We're 15th for clearances, 12th for saves and 18th for passes. We're really low down on the list for everything, yet we're so high up on the things that count. I'd love to sit down with Smith, Shakespeare and Terry and ask them why we're doing so well.
