Excuse the ignorance, but what’s the weather like in Brum in November? Short sleeve shirt weather or should we be buying Villa sweatshirts for the match? We’re from Duluth, Minnesota. Only a couple hours south of Canada, so we’re not afraid of cold weather.

I appreciate this. I think for a nightly basis, we’re trying to experience Brum as Americans, not Villa fans. However, on match day we’re going to be full on Villa and she’s prepared for that. We’re not traveling to VP to sit anywhere except the Holte!

I’m curious as to where Villa fans drink on both match day and non-match day. I’ve always heard the “Villa fans don’t drink in the city centre” line from Blosers, but is it actually true? I also don’t know any pubs besides Holte Pub around VP for match day

Hey all, Mrs MNVillan and I are considering making our first pilgrimage to VP this autumn. Coming from Minnesota in the US. We are looking at seeing Palace away on Nov 27th and Man City at VP on Nov 30th. I’m a MN Lions Club member, and will try to arrange tickets through them. What I’m looking for from you lot is recommendations on where to stay, where to eat, and what to do in both London and Birmingham. We’ve never been to the UK, so we’ll be doing all of the touristy things in London, but still need recommendations on things to do off the “tourist” list, as well as any must-do or must-avoid things in both cities. Any and all help appreciated. Mods: I wasn’t really sure where to put this. Apologies in advance if it should be elsewhere, feel free to move it (obviously).

Bardell suggesting the away will be better.

Doubtful, it has the rubberized badge. In 19/20 we went with a sewn badge. Unfortunately I think last year’s shirt came with the same tag, did it not?
-
Always enjoy concept kits, well done! I’d maybe try a yellow Kappa logo on the top shirt to match the lion, looks a little off balance with the two different colors. Just the lion instead of the full badge is great.

The new training stuff looks really similar to last year’s. Why would I spend $70 on a baby blue quarter zip when I already have one from last year?

The RJW63 Official Jack Grealish Appreciation Thread
MNVillan replied to kevangrealish's topic in Other Football
Villa’s social media are still pumping up Jack in the Euros. They tweeted a picture gallery of him and Mings in training an hour ago. Surely they wouldn’t do that if Jack had one foot out the door. -
I’d be absolutely devastated if we left VP before I could get there. If I wanted to go to a shiny new stadium with no soul I could just drive to a Minnesota Vikings game.

Typically you’re right, there’s at least some tax money involved. In this case though, he financed the entire thing himself. $5.5 billion

Unfortunately, as “soccer” has taken a back seat in American sports until relatively recently, I don’t see us as having a traditional look. I also like the hoops look, but I think our “tradition” is going to become getting crazy Nike kits every year

Bring back the horse jockey away shirt!

+1 on a darker gold lion. The current yellow one is far too pale

Yeah I thought last season’s was nice. Third kit wasn’t for me, but that’s the nature of third kits. Home and away was very nice. I thought the 2019-20 away and third kits were fantastic designs, but the quality felt so cheap and the sleeves were so weird. Last year’s quality was definitely an improvement.

I want black socks. Not going to happen though

In my experience, when the PL started being televised regularly in the USA Spurs were the “good” club that wasn’t a bandwagon team. People don’t want to jump on the Man U or Liverpool train all the time, they’re looking for a “new” team that still competes for stuff. They were in the perfect spot for that. Also the Ted Lasso TV show was based off of a series of TV commercials that ran during the PL’s first season on NBC over here. Same premise (a clueless American who gets thrust into coaching soccer), Same actor, except he was the head coach of Spurs instead of whatever fictional club he’s at in the show. That was a big marketing bonus.

I’d much prefer that. The CONCACAF Gold Cup pretty much always comes down to US/Mexico/Costa Rica

I know this is the wrong thread so apologies mods but watching Argentina and holy hell is Messi selfish. On topic, it’s really good to see Emi protect his cage on an international stage. Hopefully the wider footballing world will begin to recognize how class he is.

FCG Meeting with Christian Purslow - 24th June
MNVillan replied to OutByEaster?'s topic in Villa Talk
I know I’m in the minority, but when I make my pilgrimage to VP I absolutely plan on buying two copies of Villa News and Record for the match I attend. One to read and one to frame. -
Can we rename this thread to “Someone Tell Me When To Stop Laughing at Arsenal”?

Euro 2020 : Group D (England, Scotland, Croatia, Czechia)
MNVillan replied to BOF's topic in Other Football
Scots clearly lack quality, but I’ve been impressed with how good they are at using their body to defend and protect the ball. -
Honestly.
