  1. I believe Dean Smith is a special manager/coach. He is very un English (ultra defensive) in his approach. He likes technical football. But it’s about the players adjusting to his methods and plans quickly enough. Fernando Alonso is a special racer but that Mclaren was dog-s... hence he couldn’t utilise his talents. I respect your pov because it’s the same as mine even though I believe it’s going to happen a season later.
  2. So one was dreaming and the other did a dummy.? That’s not the same right? Its concede btw. Conceed is not a word.
  3. I never said you’re being unbelievable. My post wasn’t directed towards you or anyone else. Its my belief for our first season back we need to survive and that’s all. The Premier League is a million levels above the Championship. The Championship is crap. The level is crap the quality is crap. Wolves are an exception because they bought Premier League standard players because of their connection to Mendes so were able to do it. Leeds are the only other club in The Championship because of the Bielsa factor that I don’t think will struggle in the premier league. So for any club coming up survival is the first priority. I don’t expect anything else because I understand with Dean Smith’s tactics and playing style our players will take time to adjust to it. If we survive then from next season onwards I believe we will start to challenge for the top 10 and then from there we can make inroads towards the top 6 and beyond. But we have to survive this season.
  4. We’re aiming for survival. We need to be in the mix.
  5. It’s going to be at least until October/ November until our players are able to carry out the pressing passing football Smith wants. We just have to nick as many points as possible until we can implement his plans. It took Klopp a while to get his ideas across. If we were always a pressing team then we should be ready, but we never have been.
  6. If Guilbert has better passing than El-Mohamady then it’s going to be in the mid 90 percentile. He had 92% completed yesterday from 72 passes attempted. The highest. Luiz was next with 57 and 91% completed.
  7. 21 years old he has plenty of time.
  8. He didn’t have a poor first half. He had one or two poor moments. I was impressed with his strength and his technique is sublime. He should have been on corners and free-kicks.
  9. I don’t think Benrahma would’ve made too much of a difference for us. The gap is a mighty chasm between the Premier and Championship. He has struggled every time he has played in the French top division. I will always believe attacking reinforcements should come from the premier league, la-liga or the bundesliga. The French and Dutch leagues have players who will be successful here but are very expensive. It will be interesting to see how Targett and Guilbert do.
  10. He has shown enough in both games that he will have a good season.
  11. We had enough ‘easy’ chances to win the game. McGinn was brilliant. But I wanna talk about Douglas Luiz’s performance. He was easily the second best player on the pitch. He made a shocking mistake but then he showed his leadership qualities and grew in to the game. He demanded the ball every-time. He was telling players where to play it and where to go. And that goal. Brilliant brilliant performance. He wanted the ball but wasn’t given it at times because of the limitations of others around him or they were too slow. However I believe we will go down because we are in all very weak upfront. Im not singling out Wesley as I believe he will be a good player. It’s others around him who aren’t providing the attacking depth we need. El-Ghazi needs to improve as does Jota. Trézéguet looks good. Also our strength is weak compared to other teams. The Championship is a joke league and it shows. Attacking players should never be bought from weaker leagues. We need to learn how to attack collectively and defend collectively. Have we got the time for us to get stronger?
  12. Wesley has improved as the game wore on. McGinn has improved greatly since last week. He is easily motm.
  13. Im so glad I didn’t reply to this at 5:30am this morning. I swear I read something else. I was like ooo err missus...
  14. In his second season with us Benteke started really really well. Then he got a niggly injury and was bought back too soon but that niggle became a major injury meaning he missed more of the season he should have. Had he not had that injury I believe he still would be an effective force. Wesley imo has better touch and technique than Benteke in what I have seen so far. It’s close between them but Wesley’s passing is way better.
  15. Come on let’s be having yaaaah
  16. Must have been all the martial arts he has done .
  17. Purslow is a world class ceo if there ever was such categories in the the world of Ceo’s he has seen it and done it all. We look like a club again. We really need to stay up though. Then next season will be the start of the 30-50 million players coming to Villa .
  18. Better option on the wing in games like this imo.
  19. I don’t understand the Benrahma love in. Benrahma is another championship player. He has been unsuccessful in the highest level in france. He has been knocking around in Ligue 2 . Yes he is a good player in the championship but the premier league is another level. Maupay is someone I would have gambled on but not Benrahma. Augustin would have been a good option.
  20. With the exception of the dawdling on a few occasions I actually thought he looked okay. The only problem was he was too deep. In hindsight I would have bought on Luiz for Trezeguet or El-Ghazi as they were both tired and possibly moved jack to lw/ Lcf . Thus allowing us two DM’s for the last twenty minutes or so.
  21. Transfer window is shut. Which is a shame.
  22. I hope Dean Smith doesn’t abandon what made him successful like Lambert did when he came here. Both have been successful by having teams play attacking possession based football and in Dean’s case with pressing too. As soon as Lambert came here he shrunk and lost confidence in what made him successful. Norwich had good moments against Liverpool because they stuck to what they know. They attacked but got punished because of individual mistakes however they caused Liverpool enough problems to suggest they will deal with lesser teams. If he sticks to what he knows we will stay up.
