  1. Suso, Purslow and Dean Smith’s opinions are the only ones that matter to me as they are the ones who are overseeing our rebuild. Dean Smith obviously didn’t think the players released are good enough for the Premier League. He is buying players he has worked with before or he has been tracking for a while. Fulham’s demise on the face of it draws many parallels to our transfer window in headlines only. Once one does some research then they will see it is in fact totally different. All we need now is The Mystery £70 Million (?) striker/ winger so we can collectively stick a finger up at the doubters.
  2. Richards and Gardners replacements probably will be more useful to us than they ever were.
  3. Watch the video, the defender panicked. Again one sees what they want to see not what actually happened.
  4. The point I'm making is some fans are unhappy because Heaton doesn't have a fancy foreign name so he probably isn’t good enough based on the fact we’ve been linked with two very good foreign keepers recently. One is injury prone and the other is probably too expensive (FFP) for us. The way to look at this signing is this : Butland is imo overpriced and obviously it is for our recruitment team. Therefore a solid dependable experienced gifted keeper is available for £8million and will most likely get 8-12 points for us this season and probably next. In the meantime we can continue to look for a younger more expensive keeper for next season. Yes Steer has done well for us. But imo he is a Stuart Taylor a Mike Oakes he is a number 2. Heaton is a clear number 1. Our younger players will benefit greatly. If i was playing CB for Villa id rather see Heaton over Steer. For whatever reason the other keepers haven’t materialised so Heaton is a good alternative. Solid and Dependable will be good for us.
  5. Erm what’s racism got to do anything with my post? ... ott reaction me thinks.
  6. Heaton is very very good borderline world class. If he had inho or erto at the end of his name more people would be excited.
  7. I disagree it’s the initial pressure from Green and the fact Green cut off his options that the defender rushed his pass. Looking at it again The only one slow to react was Davis who probably should have been further forward to his defender. Obviously McGinn saw the pressure from Green and made a good tackle but Green forced that pass. We can carry on debating this till the cows come home so im done on his goal against Charlton. I don’t look at games with my prejudices on I watch them with a subjective view. Excuse the artistic expression on the Jpeg art isn’t my strong suit.

    Keinan Davis

So you could say doing things intuitively?
  9. He initially forced the mistake from their central defender and then when Davis got the ball Green was next to Grealish so had to pull wide and then check his run. He then had to outpace the defender on his side and finished with aplomb I think they say. He could have easily skewed his shot over. He definitely has more goals in him than Davis. He performed well, his touch was better , passing improvements were seen. If he continues to improve we will benefit from him staying rather than being shipped out. If we sign someone better than him ,then yes atm he is behind El-Ghazi, Trezeguet and Jota, so he will be fifth choice. We are quick to criticise but we should also acknowledge improvement. I saw lots of improvement in his game against Charlton.
  10. So Davis and Grealish put him in that position? Literally placed him there?
  11. The movement is what made the goal brilliant.

    Keinan Davis

If Davis has 10-12 goals a season in him then he is a very very good asset to have.
  13. Don’t people actually read other people’s posts. We don’t play hoof-ball anymore. Again I re-iterate in for the last 10-15 years we have played hoof-ball.
  14. Im talking about past regimes the use of a past tense verb , in this instance the word ‘had’ ,should make it very clear what im talking about. I wasn’t saying we will have 5/6 in reserve, my point about barca and real should have made that clear. We can make it a successful business with the odd player make it for us.
  15. Formations don’t matter if they are implemented with hoof-ball . I was talking about the past anyway.
  16. I remember the Arsenal game the same season boxing day when Zat Knight equalised. We out Arsenaled Arsenal. Totally dominated the game but we couldn’t score. If Cavani or Falcao had been wearing the claret and blue we would have won that game and I guarantee Arsenal would have been finished for the season. From that point I sort of knew that we wouldn’t get champions league and it was confirmed a week later when we signed Heskey. So the younger players had Heskey instead of Cavani and or Falcao to train with. All because MON lacked balls in the transfer market. Lerner was backing him up until that point.
  17. From what I understand he was offered to us along with Cavani but mon bottled it and chose Heskey. Yes you read that right.
  18. I don’t think Alli is overrated, he would probably benefit from having Grealish and or Foden playing with him. Alli likes to make runs in behind whereas the latter two like to receive the ball on the half turn and create havoc from there. Alli is young so his form will dip and rise. If Grealish takes to the premier League like we are all hoping then England will benefit too that can only be a good thing surely.
  19. One of the major problems we have had is the fact that there has been no continuity between playing styles of the youth teams and the first team. Under MON our youth teams played football but the first team played hoof-ball. So when the youngsters came in they looked useless because they had to adjust to a different style of play. When Houllier came in the youth players actually fitted in because he wanted football played a certain way. Sure they made mistakes and we unfortunately suddenly went frugal with spending but that was a fault of MON who bought in the main - donkeys. Now imagine if he had bought Falcao and Cavani instead of Heskey. As soon as Houllier comes in we would have had two world class players whom the likes of Albrighton, Hogg et al could have learned on the job with. Hopefully now the infrastructure and system will be put it in to place. It didn’t work out but I see what Houllier was trying to implement. Now hopefully Suso and Purslow can finally get that project over the line with the new Academy manager. (I forgot his name eek) Edit - in addition alot of La-Liga is awash with ex Barcelona and Real Madrid players who weren’t quite ready or Good enough for them.
  20. They are both equally important because without a keeper we would concede lots of goals and without a striker we would be one man short.
  21. If we’re going to buy crap we may as well buy proper crap.
