  1. You slag me off, and then embody what I was trying to say to you in the very next post. What a strange interaction.
  2. It may not be an esoteric concept, but it is a concept that strives for perfection in ourselves and completely beneficial external results that seems exhausting to me. Basically what useless says above. These results help cover for our failings in this round of fixtures. What result in the Arsenal and Spurs games would have not made you annoyed after we'd already lost to United?
  3. For the second week in a row, I don't understand this. Aren't you painting yourself into a lose-lose here? We messed up in our game. But then the teams around us messed up too. If we mess up, that's surely what we want? Otherwise, the Arsenal & Spurs games have no bearable outcome. I'm still gutted about our result, don't get me wrong. But these results have taken the edge off, just a little.
  4. It’s the best result for us. You’ll need to roll with the punches a bit better for the long title race ahead, if you’re acting like this after a Villa draw. I know there are other factors, but it was a draw not a defeat - and we are one point off the top on Christmas Day. Pull yourself together man!

    Unai Emery

He's got some big unsentimental decisions to make now that doesn't disrupt the team togetherness. Cash needs to be phased out, Ramsey needs to be coming off the bench until the ring-rust has gone, Diaby needs to be brought back into form, he needs to bring a couple of quality reinforcements in January, I'm sure he's up to the task - but I'll be worried if none of the above have happened a month from now.
  6. The pathetic attitude towards refereeing and VAR (which I wish didn’t exist, but for different reasons) continues on here. It’s never our fault, is it? Like a bunch of Artetas. We weren’t good enough but still managed to escape with a point. Seasons gone by we would have lost that. Joint top of the table on points tonight. Let’s go to Old Trafford with Pau back and see how we go.
  7. We're flavour of the month by and large, I think that's pretty clear. Of course the odd exception (such as Jacobs above) is pounced on by VTers, but it would be disingenuous to say otherwise.
  8. We're quite reminiscent of the 93/94 Man Utd vintage - Ince, Bruce, Cantona, Robson etc. Mixture of nasty and tough. Even the more traditionally lightweight players like Kanchelskis had an edge. And they won things - not the League Cup though
  9. I've heard he's quite porous so that shouldn't be an issue
  10. Getting rid of the huge chip on our shoulder about our perception in the media would be a good start.
  11. My favourite Villa player right now and on track to becoming my favourite Villa player since I started supporting the club.
  12. Exactly what I popped in to suggest too. Have a feeling he'll play Olsen though.
  13. Yes, no Maybe I don't know Can you repeat the question?
  14. It may sound like copium but actually not being in a situation where we can 'play the kids' in Bosnia might be for the best. Playing a second string and getting Stevenaged with a 4-1 defeat or something could just halt the momentum. Whereas playing a mixed side and resting a few, then getting a 1-0 or 1-1 keeps us on an even keel I reckon. I'm one of Olsen's biggest critics on here but he did OK tonight. Great to see Moreno back and in the goals. We did well against a side who are no mugs. Top of the group, one more competitive game (hopefully) then we're done with this competition until March. A good night's work I reckon.
  15. 'Avengement' is a good one he did. British gangsta martial arts "you slaaaag" straight to dvd type deal, but a very watchable one. Man knows how to fight on camera.
  16. Difficulty ramps up a fair bit from the boss of Irithyll onwards - how you finding it now?
  17. It's honestly driving me insane at the moment. Its suddenly become the standard template answer - "oh who decent would come to us to be a backup." Answer: Lots of Championship number 1s, young starlets playing in more minor European league, an Argentinian league number 1 maybe with the Emi understudy connection. With the dual factors of a) learning from Emi and b) having the opportunity to replace him if he does ever leave us for a 'bigger' team, I genuinely feel we're selling ourselves well short by accepting that Olsen is the best we can get for that role. We can do way better with what we can offer.

    Jhon Durán

No - there's nothing encouraging about Olsen.
  19. I reckon he's completely buggered up that stunt to be honest. A silent approach round the corner with that garb on would have been way more effective. The screech basically told them he was there. Nevertheless, good to see him back on the grass.

    Rachel Daly

Had no idea she was with or was about to move to us when I watched the recent WC - thought she was England's best player by a distance. Great to hear she's one of ours!
  21. Yeah, pretty sure it was me @Marka Ragnos - although I was probably not alone. Just a baffling decision from the club, when we've spent so much money on bringing in top quality first team players, an elite manager and highly regarded coaching staff. Also baffling - people on here saying we can't get a decent option as number 2. We either get a experienced mid to late 30s keeper who doesn't need or expect to play much (Handanovic would have been my pick in the summer) or a young starlet we can groom into being number 1 for when Emi does go. Sticking with Olsen was a giant folly.
