  1. for the run in, the big thing form looking at what we need to make it, is Bristol have to play Derby, thats a big one for us as one of them will fall back from that game, or both if they draw. If we win 2 of the next 4 games, that would mean Bristol and Derby would have to will pretty much all their remaining games to knock us out of the playoffs. Bristol vs Derby is a big help for us as they are probably our two main rivals for the two remaning playoff places, with Boro prob the next team in line depending on their form in the last 4 games. The below screen shot assumes: - Derby win ALL their remaining games - (vs. SHA / QPR / Swansea).......... except......... the Bristol vs Derby game i havent completed to show the effect on the league position. - Bristol win ALL their remaining games - (vs. Reading / Sheff Wed / Milwall)............ except ........ the Bristol vs Derby game i havent completed to show the effect on the league position. - Boro win ALL their remaining games. (vs. Stoke / Forest / Reading / Rotheram) - Villa WIN vs Bolton & Milwall, but LOSE to Leeds & Norwich - All other playoff teams win ALL games vs teams not challenging for the playoffs. As you can see, even with the SUPER worst case scenario, we are still pretty close, so assuming some form of reality applies to the league results, it would seem 2/4 wins for us, "should" be enough for the playoffs.

  3. Posted these in the DS thread, but this is prob a better thread tbh. Points progression since DS has been in charge. League position changes since DS has been in charge.
  4. i think the future buy out fee is 4.5m or something like that?
  5. Thought it might be interesting to see a graph of Championship total points progression since DS took over. Obviously where the lines remain horizontal is a loss, a small increase is a draw, and wins create the spikes in progression. You can really see that last 8-9 games ! Also, what is worth noting, is that DS took over when we were 15th, and only 9 games ago we were 11th and by most accounts unlikely to make the playoffs, what a difference an 8 game winning streak makes And the one below is our League position since DS took over, as you will see we had a good run and then fluctuated/stagnated for w while, before making the impressive push to 5th that you see towards the end of the graph......impressive stuff!
  6. Not so sure we would win the league, Norwich are a very good side and are pretty close to us in points gain over the last 9 games. But yeah I agree we would have had a chance of topping the league, and would have had an excellent chance of an automatic spot.

    Keinan Davis

hmm, last season i saw him a few times and some of the intricate and skillful things he did were far and above just a "hold up man". I remember when i first saw him in the highlights last season, i saw him do a couple of silky moves and i was like....."who the hell is this". Maybe im wrong and over estimating his ability, but i have seen more than a few times skill that makes me think he is more than just a target/hold up man. Does he need to work on his game?, yes of course, but personally i think he is a very silky player.

    Keinan Davis

would say he has any more or less skill sets to play wide than Kodjia, and he has played there numerous times. But ye, ideally he would play up front, depends on how tired Abraham is, at the very least would like to see him have a few cameo's towards the end of the season, i can see him being a good player for us next season, all being well.

    Keinan Davis

deserves a start imo, have him and El Ghazi out wide, or if Abraham needs a rest, give Davis a run out. I really rate this guy, he needs some work and development on the killer instinct, but hes a seriously skillful and talented player imo.
  10. insane..... https://twitter.com/villareport/status/1117094617583955969
  11. How did he play in his cameo today?
  12. How good was Davis?, I have been begging for him to be given some cameos!
  13. Needs to give Davis and Lansbury a chance at some point in the second half imo.
  14. So 7 in a row with Grealish, let's see if we revert back to type without him.
  15. Gonna be a whelan, hourihane, Mcginn central three then i imagine.
  16. Well done Deano!, the form table for the last 8 games is nice!!
  17. thats a really nice form table for the last 8 games
  18. been watching some Bristol highlights, they certainly work really hard and have a really good high press, vs WBA they made their defences life hell closing them down, and a couple of their goals came from the high press and getting the ball off the around WBAs 18 yd box. I think this is going to be a tough match, especially as they have an extra days recovery on us, and we played for 60mins with 10 men in our last match.
  19. No thanks, for the first time in 15 years I'm actually feeling positive that the people leading the club aren't total cowboys, and I weirdly have this feeling we are being run well. Although I'm not sure if that feeling is genuine or just an age related physical ailment....... These other dudes can go forth and multiply.
  20. I noticed in the Rotherham game he had his thigh strapped, it's a bit concerning tbh. I hope he can stay fit for the rest of the season (and the playoffs if we make them). I can decide if the injury and niggle issues are dokey down to the constant knocks and refs not protecting him, or if he is a little glass like also and prone to picking up knocks easier.
  21. Just seen a report saying he is had successful surgery on his knee. Speedy recovery and hope he fully fit and up to speed for next season.
  22. Yeah he didn't have the killer instinct, but he alsonhavent had a chance in a DS team and Ibthink his style would suit us. There were numerous times last year that he looked like a really really good prospect. There is only one way he will have a chance to improve and to see if he can develop, and that's to play him even if it is only sub role for now. I can see him playing a larger part next season.
  23. I would love to see Davis come on as a sub to replace him at some point. Davis could be an ideal replacement and allow us to develop a home grown player with real potential.
  24. Big credit to DS and the team for the run over the last 7/8 games, looking at the run: Stoke : draw Derby : 4-0 SHA : 1-0 (who have drawn with Sheff utd & beaten Leeds in their last 2 games) Forest : 3-1 Boro : 3-0 Blackburn : 2-1 (who beat Derby yesterday) Sheff Wed : 3-1 (who beat Forest yesterday, as well as taking points off Stoke, Derby & Sheff Utd in the last 6 weeks) Rotheram : - 2-1 (after being down to 10 men for 2/3 of the game and fighting back from 1-0 down - Rotheram also beat Forest a few weeks ago) wonderful stuff, regardless of whether we get promoted this season, i cant wait to see what a proper DS Villa will look like once he has a full pre season and transfer window.
