    Cahill - Bennett - Lowton - Herd - Stevens - Robinson - Johnson - Traore - Baker - Elphick - Westwood - Makoun - Vertout - Albrighton There are probably more, you could almost make a team of them. All of those (that were rated negatively by a good proportion, if not majority), are either playing at the same level or a higher level, 2 of the are premiership winners.......

    If i had a pound for every time Villa fans were happy/extatic/lol'ing that a player left, then that player went on to do well and on most occasions go on to play at a higher level than AV are at......i wouldn't be typing here, i would be overseeing one of my many gold digging wenches typing on my behalf because why not, as my other wenches fan me gently and feed me grapes, as i relax in the heat of a marbled palace in some foreign hot country. If you listed the players we have let go through mis management, failure to integrate or develop them, or play hoof ball rather than proper football, or a myriad of other failures, I swear we would be premiership top 10. Know what i mean 'arry?

    anyways, will be interesting to see what he can bring to the team. I hope to the lord Carroll, Huase and Mings dont just sit on the bench......... (like Hause has done so far)........otherwise why bother signing them.

    i wouldnt imagine that tbh, sitting in front of the defence and bringing the ball out/holding on to the ball/playing retention passes etc, i can see that, but i doubt as an actual sweeper, that makes no real sense when he isnt a defender.

    the sweeper was a defender effectively, who could bring the ball out of defence and "sweep up" as required, sometimes actually behind the two standard CB's. The Hourihane / Carroll role you are mentioning is really more like the standard deep lying playmaker probably.

    listening to his interview on AVFC official site, he says "he knew about the possible transfer for a while but wasnt sure it would happen". (specifically mentioned "a few weeks ago" in response to when he first heard of the possibility) So basically it just went totally under the radar, but was on the agenda for a while. Nice to know that DS actually intended this transfer, and is wasnt a knee jerk purchase.

    I read that we were after both Carroll and Fer, but Fer fell through and we still got Carroll. Not sure if true.

    This window "could" be ok.....but.... My concern is that after signing the new RB who isn't here until next season, Hause who hasn't started yet, then Mings and Carroll, if it's only kalinic who actually starts and the rest are just bench warmers I'm not gonna be happy....

    Honestly no idea if this guy is reasonable terrible, really concerned by the fact indont know whether to be remotely happy or if I should smash my head against a desk. Come on Villa at least give me a player that I know how to react to!!

    agreed, if we didnt pick up a midfielder (Fer or someone else), i will be an unhappy bunny. its a bit concerning that it was supposedly confirmed an hour ago, unyet nothing official anywhere.

    9 mins to go, i hope we sign a midfielder.......the Fer transfer isnt officially confirmed anywhere currently. I honestly think a good MC signing would be the difference between this being a good window and a spooky one.....

    Is Fer a defensive CM or more of an attacking CM? Having watched some vids, he does seem to get stuck in and pick up the ball from deep a lot?
