This should be our lineup imo. 4231 i think gets the best out of our players. Kamara/Luiz as ball playing double pivots. an AM three of: Couts/Buendia/Bailey, or Couts/Ramsey/Buendia, or Couts/Ramsey/Bailey Depending on whats needed. Striker - whoever could hit a barn door on the day......

Kamara/Luiz is basically the ideal ball playing double pivot (for our level). Such a pity we will probably never see it, or see it so rarely, its comparable to rocking horse s***.

i might be reading in to his words, but Gerrard said today in his interview: "the majority of our business is in place" (referring to Kamara, Carlos, Coutinho, Olsen etc). So hopefully that means we do have at least one more quality signing in the pipeline, or expect to make other moves in the market.

yeah, i edited my original post to comment that we need to offload quite a few fringe players, i imagine there is literally hundreds of thousands a week tied up in poor/average squad players....(aka Davis, El Ghazi, Traore, Hause, Guilbert, Nakamba etc)

i would be surprised tbh, if our transfer business was done. Considering the spending of some of the other teams so far, our net spend over the last 2 seasons is roughly £30m (roughly even net spend in 21/22, currently a net spend of 30m in 22/23). That kind of net spend doesnt scream "lets challenge for the top 7" to me, although granted that in the two years before that, we had a net spend of something like £230m +. Although, we do need to offload 3-5 players, our squad is pretty bloated with poor/bang average fringe players.

he's a midfielder isnt he?, i assume a central mid? (no.8 type?) I read somewhere he was good on the ball etc, anyone have any insight to the type of player he is?

why would Watkins play behind a striker?, he isnt skilful, has no vision, isnt technically good? Watkins is an out and out pressing striker, he doesnt have the ability to play in the AM type positions. although, i would like to see Coutinho, Buendia & Bailey behind either Ings or Watkins.
