  1. WAYNE ROONEY’S Derby County are picking up a bitter-sweet £600,000 cheque from Aston Villa for young Northern Ireland striker Omari Kellyman. The Rams administrators have accepted the offer from the Premier League club for Derby’s top young talent. Aston Villa poach Derby hotshot Omari Kellyman in £600k transfer as Wayne Rooney’s side sell latest starlet to pay wages (thesun.co.uk) Know absolutely zero about this young man.
  2. Not heard much of him tbh?, 17, just signed his first pro deal. Anyone know much about him?, seems he's a central defender. Aston Villa is pleased to announce Thierry Katsukunya has signed his first professional contract with the club. https://www.avfc.co.uk/news/2022/september/23/katsukunya-pens-pro-deal/
  3. Actually thought Eric lichaj was the best youth product on show today, very composed and offered a threat even on his weaker side...definitely going to be hard for Bennett to take his place
  4. Charlie Farr has signed a professional contract. He’s a midfielder... but that’s all I know about him.
  5. New youngster. Signed from Norwich for the academy. Anyone know anything about him?
  6. Another highly rated youth prospect through the door, who’s played for the Bournemouth first team. A substantial fee involved. I absolutely love what the owners are creating at Villa. Welcome Ajani.

  8. From official site: “Aston Villa is pleased to announce Gerrard Nash will become Lead Under-18 Professional Development Phase Coach and Adem Atay who will take up the role of Under-18 Professional Development Coach. Nash has most recently been working with the FA of Ireland as their High Performance Coach and previously worked at Ipswich Town as both Under-18 Lead Professional Development Phase Coach and Under-23 Senior Professional Development Phase Coach.”. Nash is from Kildare in Ireland, and had a short playing career with Ipswich that was curtailed by injuries. Second Irish coach in the setup I think?
  9. Just saw him playing in goal for the England U19s and found he didn't have a thread yet. I also thought he wasn't English, but it seems that he switched allegiance from Poland lately? Saw that on transfermarkt but don't know for sure.
  10. Thought as we have a few other threads for players, he'd get one as well. https://www.avfc.co.uk/news/2022/july/28/simpson-joins-villa-academy
  11. Our U21s have been drawn in Group B alongside AFC Wimbledon, Portsmouth, and Crawley Town.
  12. To my surprise I couldn't find a thread for Mark Delaney? If I've missed it apologies and can the Mods merge. Just watched a great interview with him on AVTV. He was one of my favourite players but its struck me he's become a proper Villa Man. Great player, started coaching the under 15s on a part time basis and now in charge of The Academy with 21 years service with the club. It was a very interesting interview which I urge you to watch and shows the connectiveness flowing through the club. I didn't realise George Boateng was also coaching with him. Talked nonchalantly about their 6th place league finish. God, imagine that, Villa finishing 6th. Seems like a universe away. * His accent was funny as well. Definitely a Welshman living in Brum for too long. Anyway, I remember feeling really sad when his career was ended prematurely and delighted he's forged a post playing career in football full stop but especially with us. Mark Delaney. A Villa man. * sorry, he may not have spoken about this, I think I read it on Wikipedia after I watched the video and thought he had talked about it, but the point still stands.
  13. Played Wing Back today for the U23's, Looks a talent and half. Plays for England youth already. One for the future
  14. Couldnt find a topic open on this (if there is one please link) So I see we won last night against. Did anyone go or watch the match? Who were the stand out performers. Still seems a tough ask to get out the group.
  15. Thought this deserved a thread of its own. Ticket details: https://www.avfc.co.uk/news/2021/may/FA-Youth-Cup-Final-ticket-details/ C'mon lads, let's have 'em.
  16. The club launches it's live coverage of the U23's today. https://www.avfc.co.uk/news/2021/february/Watch-U23s-live-on-VillaTV/ It'll be the first time games have been covered live from Bodymoor and by the sounds of things we're going to be doing it properly. A lot of fans on social media, and mostly me, have been grumbling and moaning for months about how poor our coverage has been in comparison to other clubs, and the club have now addressed that. I'd like to think that decision and the investment gets justified in terms of viewer numbers - so if you're not aware, we start today, kick off at 18:00 with a £1.99 fee that goes to the Villa foundation and local charities - it's a chance to see one of the brightest youth teams we've had in a number of years and catch up with some of the young fella's we saw against Liverpool, a chance to see Chukwuemeka, Bogarde, Kesler and maybe Philogene-Bidace - U23 games are often packed with incident and full of goals and are generally a really good watch. Give it a go. It's two quid and you're stuck in the house anyway. Thank you for helping me with my nagging guilt at being a whinger.
  17. I had a look around and did some searches but I couldn't really find anything on the youth team as a whole more just individual players. So who are our most exciting youth players and who are we likely to see take the step up to the first team this season. Also from other topics it is clear that we really want to loan out our youth players to play league 1 and championship football as youth football doesn't prepare them for the big leagues. I was thinking would it make sense to try and establish or purchase a B team to develop our players at. If we purchased a team that just got promoted to league 1 I imagine it might cost around 5 mil and we could loan out our most promising youngsters to them to help us develop them. Don't know if this would be allowed but the FA but Brentford have a 2nd team many foreign teams like barca and real have them as well.
  18. Match threads and anything linked to the U21's.
  19. hi villa u21's play at tamworth this saturday does anyone know anything about ticket arrangements , ie cost and what stand or will there be no segregation
