there is intelligent dirty, and unintelligent dirty. recently we have been unintelligent dirty. there are teams much more dirty than us who dont pick up half as many yellow cards, we need a bit more of that, we cant keep picking up yellow cards like confetti, we need to be more intelligent about it.

tbf looking at what seems like Emery's system, he seems to prefer one of the full backs to create a back 3 with the CBs, while the other full back goes forward. Apparently Emery liked Foyth as he was the RB who was also highly competent at CB, who always tucked in from RB to RCB of a three with Torres and Albiol, so he effectively valued his defensive qualities, not his attacking ones. If we intend to play similar, which it seems we do, i can only assume that means Digne will be the FB going forward more, so that could mean our RB will tuck in a lot to make a back 3 when the team is going forward. Not that i advocate signing Foyth specifically, I dunno, just spit balling. a bit like buendia also, Emery likes one of his wide players to tuck in to the midfield when the team is going forward, and the other as more of a wide player, Buendia seems to be doing the wide start but tuck in when attacking thing, seems like in attack Emery converts to some sort of 343/3421/3412/334/3232/3241/352 type formation, will be interesting to see how it develops with Villa.

Glik, central defender in serie B, is starting ahead of Bednarek?, whut!? the other 2 of the 3 are from spezia (italy - serie A) and sampdoria. surprised Bednarek didnt get a start (at least over 1 of them) unless he's carrying a knock?

i think he's the 4th longest serving England Manager in our history........what a stat that is (behind Winterbottom, Ramsey & Robson). Also been to the joint most tournaments as England Manager with 6, equal to Ramsey, 3 of Southgate's are nations league though, so not sure that is quite the same as Ramsey's 3 world cups and three euros. Southgate is a sure a good advertisement for longevity in a role, by being a corporate yes man and hiding his incompetence well.

in a certain month, cant remember which was mentioned, Buendia created more chances in a single Premier league calendar month than any other player in top flight history (29 or something). 4th highest assist generator in the top 4 leagues, from 2018 to now (behind De Bruyne, TAA and Robertson), and thats even with him not being picked for 6+ months under Gerrard. we really need to make the most of little Emi, on face value he suits Emery Ball down to a tee.

i mean that when Emery was at Arsenal and they signed Pepe, Emery didnt want Pepe, he wanted Zaha, but Edu and his recruitment team signed Pepe anyway. i cant see how thats true re "calling them in one by one", Cash in a recent interview said Emery hadnt had a chance to do any 1 to 1's with any players as he worked with the whole group to try and get across the basics in the short time they had together.

i would like to see us get a wide player (ie: wide player/inside forward......you know, the modern type winger, inside forward type...) to play on the opposite side to Buendia, as Buendia can play the left or right of the 442 cutting in, then i would like the best player we could get on either of those sides, then Buendia can do the opposite imo......(if that makes sense?) Striker also, to play ahead of Bailey in his winger, inside forward, second striker role. less critical, but i can see us doing this by the end of the summer, a new CD. Even lower on the list, a new RB, i like Cash, but i do think he is limited in some area's, and a super high quality RB would elevate that defensive line imo (especially alongside a new CD to go with Carlos). ie:
