  1. watching Brighton play out from the back shows us just how far we have got to go, if we want to play similar.
  2. Emery will need to upgrade some of our players if we are going to be playing out of the back how he likes.
  3. dont worry friendo, King Olsen will defo be in there to offer experience and leadership!
  4. when you go to buy a pass, one of the options is the Villa TV subscriber option, so unsure if that means that package would cover the "ticket"?
  5. what an attitude. i wouldnt want that kind of behaviour anywhere near my club, be that at club or international level. I would love to know what the Portugal fans are saying, i can only imagine the fallout if an England player did what Ronaldo has been doing recently. He is really tarnishing his legacy, it also shows what a selfish, self-centred, egotistical, narcissist he is, horrible.
  6. This may sound stupid, but regardless of how good he is I'm not sure he is what we really need right now. I just think there are other areas of the team i would rather spank large chunks of money on. I wouldnt say no of course........but I do think that kind of money would be better spent elsewhere if I'm honest.
  7. im not sure i would like the amount of money we would need to spunk on a player of his level. not that i even believe we could get him, but regardless, lol
  8. i think thats his one detracting point currently. he is clearly a very talented player, possibly/probably a world class one, but imo you cant really make that claim unless your have "done it" consistently in the PL or La Liga, or to a lesser degree Italy. tbh the only 2 leagues where if you succeed, you have a right to claim you are "elite" is the PL or La Liga. thats not detracting from the talent he clearly has, im sure he would succeed in either the PL or La Liga, but you defo cant go through your entire career in Ligue 1 and believe you have any claim to be on the Ronaldo or Messi level.
  9. what a journey he has been on. Gone from a 28 year old Arsenal reserve keeper 3 years ago...... To being Villa's undisputed number 1, getting his first cap for Argentina, becoming Argentina's undisputed no.1, winning the Copa America and being one of the heroes of that run, doing well at the World Cup as their no.1, getting more hugs and love from Messi and his team mates than i get in a good year from my missus He must feel like he's on cloud nine with how the last 3 years have gone. Its also nice that he does genuinely seem to appreciate what Villa did for him, in giving him a platform to showcase his talents and ability.
  10. im not saying Davis will make it at Villa, but ironically i tend to wonder if the style of player that Davis is (but upgraded), is what Emery would like in our forwards line (ie: Thuram/Muriqi types).
  11. Tbh I'm not sure he is an "emery type player". I'm jot saying Jack isn't brilliant, but I do doubt that he is an emery type player.
  12. tbf i think that was just that his left back was the best attacking option from the LB/RBs. I would imagine that he would like whichever full back is the best attacking option to be the attacking one, then the opposite sits more to form the back 3. Obviously, i would agree that Digne is currently our best attacking full back, so kind of the same scenario for now?
  13. Watkins works really hard, what more do you want?, is it really that important for a player to be able to control and kick a ball properly? Watkins works really....really....really hard!
  14. theres a blast from the past....(past transfer window threads)
  15. 0 goal difference also. next England manager 4 sure. anyways, off to other football with you sweet prince.
  16. with the names linked, ie: Cunha, Muriqi, Thuram, if its a true(ish) reflection of the type of player Emery is after, its clear he wants a mix of strength, pace, technical ability, height, power etc. more than happy with that, would make us a nightmare to play against on the break, but also in the air/hold up etc, would also make teams much more wary of pushing up against us generally. Same could be said for previous links, like Sarr & Zaha etc.
  17. Belgium have to be one of the contenders for wasting the talent they have in their squad over a number of years. they play like a pub team.
  18. if only it were 1 in 4, and not 1 in 4.587..... that .587 just makes all the difference im afraid....
  19. no league goals in 11 games this season, and only 6 in 40 overall for Atletico? Not sure thats a clever purchase?
  20. didn't realise, but Muriqi got 2 assists and scored a pen versus England, when England beat Kosovo 5-3 in the Euro 2020 qualifiers. the second assist was very good.
