For me, by the end of the summer 22/23. Keep: Martinez, Digne, Mings, Carlos, Konsa, Cash, Kamara, Luiz, Dendoncker, Sanson, J.Ramsey, Coutinho, Buendia, Bailey, Watkins (15 players). Loan or keep around: Hayden, Iroegbunam, Archer, Philogene, Bogarde, feeney, any other youth players. Out: Olsen, Steer, Augustinsson, Bednarek, Hause, Chambers, Guilbert, Young, Nakamba, McGinn, Traore, Ings, Davis (13 players) others: Wesley (cus we cant get rid of him).

i dunno, im not Emery? emery said pre match he wanted to give players chances and see what they can do. .....he got his answer with some of them.

to be honest, i think overall there are a lot of positives to take from that game, you can see what Emery is trying to do. we played on the front foot and with energy, we didnt sit back and defend, concede possession and live with our hearts in our mouths, i can actually see what we are trying to do, and some players look good, its nice to see a team out there playing and i kind of understand what we are trying to do, even if it doesnt work all the time. However, some players really showed themselves up tonight, we literally handed them 3 goals on a plate, literally 3 goals and they did virtually nothing for them. Olsen should be sacked after that performance, shockingly bad. Chambers tbh cant play the high line emery likes, he's too slow and doesnt track players well, he just isnt suited to the emery style tbh, wasnt sure before, but it was clear tonight. McGinn is just so slow and ponderous, shouldnt be anywhere near the starting 11. But, overall, i think most of the team, and the style of play showed some real positives overall, the 3 stupid gifted goals aside.- 264 replies

i agree. we didnt sit back, we didnt try to soak up pressure, we actually gave them a game and were it not for 3 terrible pieces of defending where we literally gave them goals for free, would have been a different game. All it showed me tbh is that i can see the way we want to play, some players are looking good, but some are really showing themselves up. -
done himself no favours tonight. tbh its clear he cant play the way emery wants to play, emery likes a high line and chambers just isnt fast enough, he gets turned too easy and has zero pace.

got to be one of the worst keepers i have seen at villa in a long, long time. and i remember quite a few..... i cant believe we paid money for this guy.

wtf was chambers doing there, he has massively hurt himself tonight.

tbf we have given them a game, none if this all out defensive stuff. the problem is we have olsen, chambers (who cant play a high line) and mcginn looking like competition winners. 2 of their goals were 100% gifted to them, literally we gave them on a plate like a sunday league team. quite a few positives from the night tbh, we did go toe to toe with them, if we can cut out the epic fails we might just have won it.

what i have learnt tonight. Olsen is a competition winner. Chambers cant play a high line (too slow). McGinn is not very good. We need some defensive upgrades if we are going to play the high line/possession thing.
