  1. You do have to wonder about the mentality of a young prospect heading to a team like Chelsea / Man City. I can't figure out if it's greed, terrible advice or plain stupidity.
  2. Not sure that's true; just to keep it Villa: Brad Friedel was as brilliant well into his thirties as he was in his youth.
  3. Essentially, he's absolutely taken the chance afforded him at Villa through a conflux of injury, high-profile transfers falling through / lack of more pedestrian but senior alternative, and never looks out of place against any opposition in the PL, plus is still only 21. This kind of story is what we dream about as fans. Love it.
  4. Wow. That's genuinely moving, no matter what your nationality or who you support.
  5. Yep.It's crap when it's your team; I like it when it's a big game elsewhere however.
  6. I personally find you get a mixture of opinions. Some inevitably react too quickly and make up their minds, and others more often than given credit for continuously point out the good and the things you've mentioned. The more unfortunate aspect of social media is the need for one group to point out the faults of the other, which sort of demeans the opinion on offer. I often wonder why people can't just say a positive thing on here and not worry about the often well-worn opposite? Other than that, I completely agree with you.
  7. Jesus, heard earlier that Sterling is on around 350K per week at Chelsea. Football eh? Not what it used to be ..
  8. Pah! The Rashica thread doesn't get out of bed before 100 pages.
  9. Not sure. Difficult to argue for certain due to the unfortunate circumstances. Wesley had something about him. It seems more and more that Benitez 'fell out' with Digne because he realised he wasn't very good.
  10. Pound for pound, has there been a worse signing than this under the new owners?
  11. Absolutely bang on the money. Even the excuse of why he left (more dog walking time or some such) told us everything we needed to know. Overly comfortable bunch of amateurs.
  12. Listening to the radio reports Saturday, I was reminded of both the Big Ron and MON eras with the overwhelmingly, almost shockingly complementary summation.
  13. So be it? It's the dream scenario! We've already got quality in that squad, it just needs augmenting with genuine class. Exciting times.
  14. Completely agree. I love to see these types of teams do well and the old order being overthrown, however briefly. The difficulty they'll find though is the same difficulty Southampton and Leicester have found. Players, managers and coaches wish to test themselves at higher profile clubs, and it's remarkably hard to keep finding gems in each of these positions over and over again, without the luxury of shrugging off mistakes with further money.
  15. ↑↑ Not at all. It's the bit above that's important.
  16. Watched out of curiosity and couldn't get through it. Quickly realised how important the human interaction / intervention is here. Staggeringly boring watching teams I don't really care about 'kick a ball around'. Seemed almost pointless without the commentary and analysis, no matter how much we may agree or disagree with what's being said.
  17. Absolutely massive praise from the commentator covering the game today; singled Ramsey out each time, calling him a huge talent and absolute class.
  18. Fair play to TalkSport. They're not reveling in the situation today, but have acknowledged what's happening in a pretty classy way (which I wasn't expecting).
  19. Am I missing something here... where's the MOTD day comments?? *EDIT* Found
  20. Dendonker is a fine player and shouldn't be rotting on our bench. I think he'll do well over the next few weeks.
  21. Kane and Son Heung-min are 'scum'!? What a ridiculous comment.
