    I do not understand how Mrs Brown's Boys gets on so well, especially in England I have never met anybody who likes it. I think it does well in certain circles as it has the sort of staged, stereotypical Irishness to it that wouldn't have been out of place in the 1970s. *shudders*

    We have underachieved for a long time, we should be in or around the top 7 most seasons. The 2010s were a very bad decade, one of the worst decades in Villa's 150 year history. It's not 'entitled' to want us to be top 4. And why are you picking fights with other Villa fans over what constitutes success?

    The only hope left is that they say this badge is for the 150th and we get a new permanent badge for the following season.

    Doug has been a key part of our resurgencence. All players lose form time to time. Look at McGinn in 2022. I even remember Gareth Barry having a sticky patch around 2001 or so. People turning on him need to get a grip.

    If they got cold feet over the round badge they must surely know that sentiment to the new drop shadow thing is even more negative. Maybe they will decide it is a one season wonder for the 150th (like they decided the round one was a one season wonder) and go nick to the drawing board again? Clutching at straws now I know but the drop shadow thing is hideous

    He was meant to be this years Bednarek. Cover. Our injury/ fitness crisis has resulted in him playing more than he should have. At the start of the season our dilemma was Mings/Konsa/ Pau. Very quickly our dilemma became making do with Lenglet, Carlos and on a rare occasion Chambers.

    Usually avoid match threads but the officials tonight were an absolute disgrace, serious question marks. That game could easily have been 3-3 with different officials.

    Thank you @sidcow @Made In Aston and @The Fun Factory. I thought as much. Its the smallest and oldest stand we have. If we are reliant on it to stay clear of FFP/PSR we are sailing far too close to the wind whereas we all know we need to ramp up in order to keep growing at the pace we are.

    I enjoy all the pods. It's my age but I do sometimes get a bit frustrated when Townley doesn't know pre 2009 stuff, like naming McGinn our best premier league era captain when he hasn't matched either Richardson or Townsend yet.

    I suppose JV people on Villa Talk come from many walks of life. I am Sure we have designers, architects, builders, teachers, plasterers, plumbers, accountants, executives etc etc. We also have people following the ups and downs of the club for decades! I personally respect the views of others on here and I personally am very much a happy clapper type villa fan and it just is quite striking that we all know what is holding us back compared to Spurs, to take am example of a clin with a similar enough history to us, and we have delayed taking the action that will help us bridge that gap but haven't had any comms explaining why. The comms gap is not the fault of fans mate.

    That doesn't fit the narrative that we are just too thick to understand the genius at work. "We aren't doing that now", we risk 'adding too many seats too fast". He was not clear, not by any stretch despite the revisionism.

    Those of us a certain age remember when top 6, including 2nd and 4th on occasion, seemed like the normal for us.
