  1. Claret lion on a blue background is such an obvious direction for us to go I can't believe we haven't had that since 1992 (until the one year wonder round badge of course).
  2. I understand that @Teale's 'tache, as in a lion outside the crestvor whatever as a stand-alone. Just seems odd to have the drop shadow yellow lion for example and a really detailed lion that is a different colour.
  3. As things stand there is confusion because of all our badges, two official ones this year FFS! Why would they then go and have two versions of the new badge? Like, that makes no sense. Oh the drop shadow is a representation of the actual lion- that will just confuse things further?
  4. I actually find it staggering that people think the branding issue has been well handled and not sure how it can be reconciled with the argument that 'we need this because it will generate revenue and fans just don't understand'.
  5. Indeed. Would be better in a New stand rather than subtracted from the existing ground.
  6. Yeah, but it's not really apparent how certain things are going to achieve that. Why would I buy merchandise this season when I don't know what the badge is and the club said the current one is shit?! Not the best now is it.
  7. There are more shields than round badges But parking that why not deliver a shield with a claret lion on blue background? Why keep the aspects people really hate?
  8. I get a lot of negativity for harping on the off field issues. I just want us to be as good off the field as we are on it. I want us to be the best version of ourselves and I think we deserve the best (especially given price increases).
  9. Liverpool will be nervous about coming to Villa Park. Just think, had we had any luck with injuries and 6-7 points more, that would have been such a massive game in the title race!
  10. I would not swap Emery for anyone. Sometimes a manager is the right fit for a certain club and I believe Emery was just made for Aston Villa. He is the right manager for us, the best manager for us.
  11. Well maybe they could have said something along those lines last summer instead of the B.S we got? That the whole 2022 process of finding an identity for villa fans to appreciate was a waste because the new audience is more important and to them villa is now known to a new audience as the pale yellow lion club so that trumps all else.
  12. We were the first super club really. World famous and the trophy haul of that era wasn't surpassed until Liverpool in the 70s. That's why we should value our heritage as we move forward in a New era.
  13. Did you think Scot Hogan was the missing piece of the jigsaw when we signed him?
  14. No issue with commercial success whatsoever. We need it! Badly! However, I'm not sure we have to just tolerate being treated like idiots as part of the process. And that is what has happened since end of last season with total B.S reasons for decisions around the ditching the new 2022badge, changes to the plan for the stadium etc. Just be more upfront- we stood by the club when it was on its knees, we deserve better.
  15. See when he started rowing back on things like the round badge and the new stand my suspicions were he didn't like inheriting somebody else's work and there was a bit of politics to it. The comments there seem to suggest that. Well he would do well to remember we were a mid table championship club when Purslow was hired and he left us in much better shape than he found us before departing. Heck had something to build on with us in Europe and with the best manager in 40 years. Also he would do well to remember the fans who have been there through thick and thin also and I see no reason why we have to be condescending to. Surely it is possible to gain a new following without pissing off the core support or am I too thick to understand the genius at work.
  16. I want to believe this guy is the best we can get. I try to park the misgivings I have. Then I remember that next year we potentially could have more exposure than we have ever had and that stupid redesigned badge (with a yellow lion, on pale blue with his head being shoved against the top of the new shoeld by the sqeezing in of the name and year underneath!) will be how we are represented and I just think "what a bad, bad job" has been made of that and how shoddy the treatment of fans' intelligence/ contribution to the first consultation was.
  17. As Dan Bardell tweeted yesterday it would be nice if he could show some sensitivity to the club's history and the desires of fans - eg his badge debacle-
  18. On Yorke's Instagram its all Man U and no villa. Also, he was the main man here for 3 seasons and a squad option before that. Watkins has been our main man now for four seasons and for me has the edge now over Yorke.
  19. The past 18 months has seen me re-evaluate my all-time Villa XI. A few 90s players have dropped out but I still really adore the 90s era teams. I think Steve Staunton actually would be a player from the past who would be effective in this team, McGrath obviously also. In a way the midfield we have now surpasses the likes of Barry for me. If anything, An Andy Townsend in the engine role might enable our current midfielders to flourish even more. Ian Taylor too bursting forward from midfield would be a fine squad option today. But we have no real weakness today so I wouldn't really swap anybody out.
  20. My partner sure hasn't fallen in love with us despite my best efforts!!
  21. Well it still probably would be less complex and less costly than finding a new site for an entire new build.
  22. Still in the redevelop our home camp. There isn't a more unique location for a stadium, it's intrinsic to Aston Villa- let's commit to it.
  23. Here's to you Unai Emery, Villa Loves you more than you will know
