  1. He was meant to be this years Bednarek. Cover. Our injury/ fitness crisis has resulted in him playing more than he should have. At the start of the season our dilemma was Mings/Konsa/ Pau. Very quickly our dilemma became making do with Lenglet, Carlos and on a rare occasion Chambers.
  2. Really pisses me off to see fans slate players who have helped give us a magic 18 months
  3. Usually avoid match threads but the officials tonight were an absolute disgrace, serious question marks. That game could easily have been 3-3 with different officials.
  4. You mean, it doesn't have to be pale yellow?!
  5. Thank you @sidcow @Made In Aston and @The Fun Factory. I thought as much. Its the smallest and oldest stand we have. If we are reliant on it to stay clear of FFP/PSR we are sailing far too close to the wind whereas we all know we need to ramp up in order to keep growing at the pace we are.
  6. I would love to know how much revenue our smallest stand makes us, do we have the figure?
  7. It used to be on YouTube but isn't any more. Ditto the Andy Grey 100 years at Villa Park video from 1997.
  8. I enjoy all the pods. It's my age but I do sometimes get a bit frustrated when Townley doesn't know pre 2009 stuff, like naming McGinn our best premier league era captain when he hasn't matched either Richardson or Townsend yet.
  9. Last time I was I'm the North Stand I could not believe how bad it was. Is there any point making cosmetic changes to it, really?
  10. I suppose JV people on Villa Talk come from many walks of life. I am Sure we have designers, architects, builders, teachers, plasterers, plumbers, accountants, executives etc etc. We also have people following the ups and downs of the club for decades! I personally respect the views of others on here and I personally am very much a happy clapper type villa fan and it just is quite striking that we all know what is holding us back compared to Spurs, to take am example of a clin with a similar enough history to us, and we have delayed taking the action that will help us bridge that gap but haven't had any comms explaining why. The comms gap is not the fault of fans mate.
  11. That doesn't fit the narrative that we are just too thick to understand the genius at work. "We aren't doing that now", we risk 'adding too many seats too fast". He was not clear, not by any stretch despite the revisionism.
  12. Those of us a certain age remember when top 6, including 2nd and 4th on occasion, seemed like the normal for us.
  13. We understand perfectly well that standing still isn't an option if we ever want to compete with the income generating capacity of peer clubs and found it alarming that the pause, coupled with Euro 28, potentially kicked the can 5 years down the road whereas not pausing would have seen us capable of bridging the gap by 2026.
  14. You aren't alone, I get ridiculed here for bringing it up
  15. That could mean anything. Gabby has previous for mouthing off about a new stadium. But we will take it as better than the mood music has been!
  16. It must be very hard for young people to go to games. I would fear we are potentially making it the pursuit of the comfortable in society of we keep using prices and keeping capacity around 42k. We have to think about the fans who will be the next generation of diehards.
  17. I know. That's why none of what was said in December stacked up really. I know some have made a good argument that not having the NS open would affect revenue while the build was happening but it seemed very short term given we'd only end up worsening the vicious cycle we are in against the scab 6.
  18. I am clinging to the unlikely hope they have found a way to do the North Stand in a shorter time frame. Unlikely I know. I loved that Villa Park hosted aeuro 96 games, and the Cup Winners Cup final in 1999. It definitely adds to the image of the club.
  19. You mean, they are going to rebuild their fortress?! And even though they are more landlocked than we are?! Tell them they are crazy to be adding too many seats too fast
  20. Hear hear, what a journey. I am so proud of the club. And more to come. On our worst days in the Championship I would have snapped your hand off for mid table in the top flight but we have surpassed all expect in such a short time.
  21. It's a discussion forum @thabucks. I manage to be civil to you it's a pity you have to go in studs up each time, singling me out in particular when I am far from the only one concerned about core elements of the club's heritage. Somebody posed a comment and I responded I think that's allowed last time I checked the rules. And if you check every other thread here you will see I am about as positive as it is possible to be about the manager, the team and all our players.
  22. It's simple really. You can't announce in 2022 there will be a new badge for a new era, do a big consultation on it, have fans vote on it, announce which option won and then bin it immediately unless your Plan B is truly something special and the plan B most definitely not something special. It doesn't sit right and it is almost like being trolled by the club.
  23. Since 1983 we have finished 2nd twice and 4th once. Unlucky for us we haven't managed it since they expanded the qualification criteria.
