  1. Did you think Scot Hogan was the missing piece of the jigsaw when we signed him?
  2. No issue with commercial success whatsoever. We need it! Badly! However, I'm not sure we have to just tolerate being treated like idiots as part of the process. And that is what has happened since end of last season with total B.S reasons for decisions around the ditching the new 2022badge, changes to the plan for the stadium etc. Just be more upfront- we stood by the club when it was on its knees, we deserve better.
  3. See when he started rowing back on things like the round badge and the new stand my suspicions were he didn't like inheriting somebody else's work and there was a bit of politics to it. The comments there seem to suggest that. Well he would do well to remember we were a mid table championship club when Purslow was hired and he left us in much better shape than he found us before departing. Heck had something to build on with us in Europe and with the best manager in 40 years. Also he would do well to remember the fans who have been there through thick and thin also and I see no reason why we have to be condescending to. Surely it is possible to gain a new following without pissing off the core support or am I too thick to understand the genius at work.
  4. I want to believe this guy is the best we can get. I try to park the misgivings I have. Then I remember that next year we potentially could have more exposure than we have ever had and that stupid redesigned badge (with a yellow lion, on pale blue with his head being shoved against the top of the new shoeld by the sqeezing in of the name and year underneath!) will be how we are represented and I just think "what a bad, bad job" has been made of that and how shoddy the treatment of fans' intelligence/ contribution to the first consultation was.
  5. As Dan Bardell tweeted yesterday it would be nice if he could show some sensitivity to the club's history and the desires of fans - eg his badge debacle-
  6. On Yorke's Instagram its all Man U and no villa. Also, he was the main man here for 3 seasons and a squad option before that. Watkins has been our main man now for four seasons and for me has the edge now over Yorke.
  7. The past 18 months has seen me re-evaluate my all-time Villa XI. A few 90s players have dropped out but I still really adore the 90s era teams. I think Steve Staunton actually would be a player from the past who would be effective in this team, McGrath obviously also. In a way the midfield we have now surpasses the likes of Barry for me. If anything, An Andy Townsend in the engine role might enable our current midfielders to flourish even more. Ian Taylor too bursting forward from midfield would be a fine squad option today. But we have no real weakness today so I wouldn't really swap anybody out.
  8. My partner sure hasn't fallen in love with us despite my best efforts!!
  9. Well it still probably would be less complex and less costly than finding a new site for an entire new build.
  10. Still in the redevelop our home camp. There isn't a more unique location for a stadium, it's intrinsic to Aston Villa- let's commit to it.
  11. Here's to you Unai Emery, Villa Loves you more than you will know
  12. In our 150th year I imagine it will be either homage to a classic claret and blue kit or an homage to one of the early Villa kits before claret body and value sleeve became the thing. I can't see it being an original in its own right that is claret and yellow
  13. There have been hints the new kit is nice so I doubt that is it!
  14. You see my issue here isn't so much the scrapping of the round badge it's more that we were definitely promised a break from the Lerner badge so it is quite something for them to depart from the round badge and up with something based off the unpopular Lerner badge.
  15. Thanks man. I do get that. Personally I think the 1957 logo is classic and something along those lines should always have been the quintessential Villa logo!
  16. Had any other club rebrand3d as often as we have since, for example, the 1980s? I know Arsenal did about 15 years ago. Chelsea did in ahout 2004, Liverpool did in 1992...but to me we have changed far, far too often.
  17. But surely the point about branding is it needs to be consistent? As things stand there are 3 logos (the one with prepared, the one without prepared, and the round one) that do the rounds for representing us. If we are going with the new One leaked they need to be consistent in how they represent it, it can't be 'well it looks like clip art everywhere but looks more detailed on the shirt'.
  18. I back Unai and the players every single time 100%. But I am sorry. Off the field needs sorting. The badge thing is a joke - not going to get into the debate about how things went with the round badge - but here we have an instance where apparently the new badge is appearing on another website before we have had an official announcement (promised months ago). At the very, very least, the comms are amateur and well, we won't comment on the design.
  19. Can't believe that thing will be the visual representation of the club after all the hops of the past 2 years.
  20. We actually could have won the league this year if we had avoided injuries. So proud of the team and manager
  21. If I was Liz Truss I would hide away somewhere and hope people forget about me. Cannot believe the sheer brass neck of her to keep trying to get into the media spotlight after being such a wrecking ball of a UK PM. Also, given her support of Ukraine how can she look at herself in the mirror while endorsing Putin puppet Trump?
