    The genius of Emery is that he knew we needed a revolution at Aston Villa. He knew that to do that, and where others had failed, he had to lead the entire club and bring the fans with him.

    We are almost guaranteed our best position since 1996-97 and could get fourth for thr first time since 1995-96. In with a shout for a trophy. I think he is a legend already. He has brought back days wr haven't had in almost 30 years.

    OK, let me go this far. He has been here 11 months and he has made some big calls and they have proved very divisive. Unai Emery has been transformative on the pitch. He has changed the culture of the club. He has taught us to be patient by reaching out and bringing us with him and we see the results. No more groans of 'get it forward' etc. Maybe Mr Heck could have done more to bring us with him instead of handling it the way he has.

    It's a culture war here. Some of us can see the badge issue has been a dogs dinner, the comms have been absolutely pathetic, and the drips and drabs on the future of Villa Park leave more questions than answeres while others have determined this man is a genius and mere villa fans couldn't possibly have a valid opinion compared to the confident American in a suit. We have been top 7 two years in a row, on an upward trajectory and in with a good chance of CL football. Of course we are getting better deals now than we were 2-3 years ago when we had emerged from a 3 year stint in the second tier, had survived a winding up order.     We play in claret and blue. We were the first team to play in claret and blue. Claret body and blue sleeves. Every now and then we vary it: 87-88, 93-95, 99-00, 18-19. Our crest has been a lion rampant, we had huge Scottish influence on our founding, and we play in claret and blue. Why should we rip up probably the elements key to our identity? We are the team that plays in claret and blue. That isn't clutching to the past, it is having some integrity about what we are and so diluting it that we could be any old club. Do other big clubs do this? Liverpool, Man U, Arsenal, etc?

    We used to know exactly what the plan was, now it's little hints dropped every now and then that leads to a pile of speculation about what's going on and who will be impacted.

    Since we got wind of them binning the new round d badge it had been amateur hour with Villa's branding - worst I can remember. On brand my arse.

    The Dragon Rouge designed lion works great as a stand alone or within a crest. It works great digitally and on the shirt. It's also claret on a blue background, representing our colours! But we'll end up with the Lerner evolved yellow drop shadow thing that may or may not be more intricate on the shirt.

    Once again a fan mockup is far superior, and more stand out, to something commissioned by the club but people will line up to say we just don't understand and the new one leaked and on the way this summer will be better equipped to make us huge revenue streams or some other spiel along these lines.

    We averaged 40k in I think 2008-2009 but attendances fell off a cliff when McLeish was appointed and didn't recover until Dean Smith was appointed. I think we would fill 50k most weeks but if they keep ramping up prices the vicious cycle will kick in and will force some to quit going. That's why I don't like the noises- cancelling a new stand, and announcing more corporate in an existing stadium that isn't big enough.

    I'm not trying to be smart but the current location has been home to a large stadium for 125 years, at times, when it was one of the largest grounds in England.
