  1. Why are people obsessed with blame? Manager saw player scoring lots, signed him, things haven’t gone as well over 18 months. Why does Bruce need to be blamed?!?
  2. I just don’t see him leaving us for Leicester or Burnley at the moment purely because they’re Premier League clubs.
  3. The team finishing 3rd has only been promoted twice in the last 6 seasons. Although, if you're one for superstition, that team is due to be promoted this season: 11/12: West Ham (3rd) 12/13: Crystal Palace (5th) 13/14: QPR (4th) 14/15: Norwich City (3rd) 15/16: Hull City (4th) 16/17: Huddersfield Town (5th)
  4. Let's remove the word "apparently", then. He's still improving and is a Villa fan - where is he going to go?
  5. Sessegnon as wide left forward?
  6. I don't think we'll lose him. He's still improving and apparently a Villa fan - where is he going to go?
  7. He's not a very good player but he's decent enough and would work better in a different system (such as the one at Brentford...) - we're just not set up to play the correct way for Hogan to thrive (as you allude to in the first part of your post). I'm pretty sure during the Leeds game, it was stated that we put in more crosses and score more from crosses and set pieces than any other team in the league. Hogan is 5ft 11 and known for playing on the shoulders of defenders. Rocket science, it isn't. However, to suggest there's "nothing there" and that he is good at "nothing" is just wrong.

    Yup. Nothing will happen though!
  9. Interesting that this is getting brought up a lot. Can't see it being like United under Ferguson, personally.
  10. Emirates Stadium Etihad Stadium American Express Community Stadium bet365 Stadium John Smith's Stadium King Power Stadium Vitality Stadium We've long, long, lonnnnng been heading towards the Americanisation of the Premier League (and Britain in general tbh).
  11. Fairly sure Hogan has been injured for fairly long periods (obviously not the same length) of time this season too - seem to remember a discussion about how he’s made of glass etc. All it means is that Hogan has played 2.5x the minutes and scored 6x the number of goals. Nothing more, nothing less.
  12. I’d suggest he was bought for his goal scoring prowess - an attribute of which is his work rate. It’s evident he hasn’t hit the heights that we would have expected here yet. (Although he’s still scored 6x the amount of goals as Kodjia this season in just about 2.5x the amount of time.)
  13. Since you’re wanting to be facetious about it, I’d say what he is particularly good at is putting a defence under pressure. Often with closing down, often with runs into channels.
  14. This is probably the popular football myth at the moment - “Rafa has had no money to spend”. I’d be willing to bet Newcastle have spent more than Huddersfield this season, having finished something like 15 points(?) ahead of Huddersfield last season and have also picked up some very decent loans. Wagner’s achievements so far this season are ahead of Rafa by a considerable distance. I’d probably put Hughton above Rafa too.
  15. We've scored the third most goals in the Championship this season and are "only" 9 goals behind a side that will reach 100 points this season. Of our 23 league wins this season, 6 have been 1-0. There have certainly been some dull games along the way but, overall, I haven't found us boring at all. Perhaps too long-ball at times, but not boring. Even the "ground-out" 1-0 win against Cardiff was an entertaining game, I thought.
  16. "More exciting" in what way? Not having a boring name?
  17. "Playoffs" is just such a weird way of assessing how a manager has done. We're currently 13 points ahead of 7th place and 2 points behind 2nd - lumping it as "playoffs" removes any sort of context. Is our form against the top opposition in this division really "poor", too? Whilst we've lost away to the 4 sides around us, we've beaten Wolves, Fulham and Cardiff at home, with Derby to come.
  18. People want him gone regardless. Pretty bonkers.
  19. Starting to see why opposition fans dislike him so much - I wish he'd stop diving.
  20. I thought he was pretty good today... but still lacks that end product. He does everything right up until he needs to do something effective, and then either delays the pass or shoots wildly off target.
  21. Yeah, thought he was very good tonight - best game for us by a mile. Good awareness for his clearance (almost) off the line as well.
  22. I think you're partly right here. The "problem" is that Jedinak has only ever been OK at centre back. Never great, never bad, very much middle of the road - which is absolutely fine, it's not his best position. However, when your last game at centre back is as terrible as his was against Sheff Utd plus you've never excelled in the position, people are naturally more wary of you playing that position again. Cardiff suited him down to a tee. He loves a battle and is great in the air - Cardiff love a battle and are great in the air. Worked a charm.
  23. I think you should - makes no real sense otherwise IMO. Player A has a shot on target, deflects off a defender and goes in = Player A's goal. Player A has a shot on target, deflects off Player B and goes in = Player B's goal. Nonsense*! * - Plenty of this in football rules generally...

This is exactly what I think too. I’d be much more confident in hitting the target if I could set the ball rather than moving backwards whilst trying to catch a volley... ...however, I’d rather score Neves’ goal and it’s prettier to watch.
  25. He said online straight away that it brushed his shoulder. I believe him, even though the contact must be incredibly slight. However, I don’t think it should be his goal. If that hit a defenders’ shoulder, Eriksen would have the goal - it wouldn’t be an own goal. Therefore, Eriksen’s goal.
