  1. I'm not confident but am hopeful. This competition hasn't been easy to predict, we've struggled somewhat at times in games where we've been expected to win and possibly comfortably, but also we've probably been at our best in the so called tougher games, such as against AZ and Ajax, so hopefully that puts us in good stead against Lille
  2. Just saw some of Wagner's interview about the new stadium, and he talks about the possibility of World Cup and NFL games being played there, which would mean a minimum of 40,000 capacity for the World Cup and 60,000 for the NFL games, but says they need to first put a product on the pitch to attract those kind of numbers, so seems a long way off to me. Also this all seems a little back to front, surely they would be better off reaching the Premier League first, establishing themselves, and then going ahead with such plans, is it not the case that when clubs build new stadiums it cripples them in the transfer market for a couple of years, how are they going to spend billions on this project and at the same time build a team to justify it, that in itself would require hundrds up hundres of millions of pounds, probably close to a billion, to turn them into a team that could attract crowds approaching sixty thousand, would essentially take Manchester City level spending
  3. Their proposals are more than just a new stadium, the site they've brought is apparently ten times bigger than the location of their current stadium, they're suggesting it's going to be a Mancehster City style development, so will also include things like training ground, academy building, possibly an additional ground for their women's team, hotels, restuarants, housing, and so on, all on the same site. Whether all that is realistic I've no idea
  4. Only sixteen but has already played ten plus times for our U21s for whom he has looked very impressive, Scotland U17 international, and has been training with our first team

    Louie Barry

Kane is still considered a late developer, and by his own admission, his breakout season with Spurs was at the age of 22, young players often written off well before then

    Louie Barry

Nine goals in his first fifteen games this season in League Two was some going, very rare for a young attacker to make that kind of impact at League Two level, I don't know if this is accurate but I saw it said that the last player under twenty-one to score more than fifteen goals in a League Two season was Ollie Watkins, Barry was well on course to beat that. Strikers are also notoriously late developers, see Watkins, Kane, Toney, Wilson, and so on, not saying Barry is going to be as good as those players, but I wouldn't be so hasty in writting him off, if he'd have stayed fit this season and continued to do well I think good chance he'd have got a Championship loan next season and would be playing at that level at the same age Rogers was at the start of this season
  7. They're spending two to three billion the project, going to be a 60,000 capacity stadium, training ground for men, women, and academy all in one location, and they aim to have completed by 2029. Will be interesting to see what they do in the summer transfer window, as for all these plans to make sense they're going to have to get into the Premier League asap
  8. They could easily be relegated, they're only two points ahead of Luton now, they've won just one of the last fourteen in the league, only Sheffield United have taken fewer points in that time, and even then only two points fewer having played one less game, so they've been close to the worst team in the league for a while now. If they are relegated then it will be the deductions that has sent them down, without them they would be virtually safe already
  9. Our Athletic reporter said back around Christmas time that there's no expectation from the club for him to play any part this season, won't be back until the summer
  10. It's not odd at all, it's perfectly logical, Farke had him at Norwich where he did well and was the most important part of Farke's set-up, so not hard to imagine if Leeds get promoted they would try and sign him, they might also look at our FFP situation and wonder if we would be more inclined to sell someone like Buendia rather than say Ramsey, Luiz, Kamara, and so on, we don't want to lose any of our main stars, but at the same time we do have to sell to buy, journalists aren't making that up, it's something Emery has said himself, so whether it be Buendia, or someone else, we are going to be selling some of our first team squad
  11. It's crossed my mind that we could switch to three at the back to compensate for the absence of Luiz, Kamara, and Dendoncker, that is all our specialist holding midfielders, if we were to do that that Kesler Hayden would be the obvious choice to play as right wingback, but don't think he's going to go from having as little game time as he's had to suddenly starting games
  12. If Leeds get promoted I wouldn't be surprised to see them try and sign him.
  13. I've lost track of which clubs are part of V Sports, but when Smith is done with FC Charlotte, maybe we will give him a job with one of those
  14. This was utterly miraculous from Deano, seven points from safety with four games to go, I knew four points would give us a chance if West Ham beat Watford becase Watford then had to play Manchester City and Arsenal, but even allowing for that not too unlikely outcome, we stil had to somehow get eight points from our remaining four, it had take us fourteen games to get our previous eight points
  15. That was one of the strangest 4-0 games I've seen, in general play there wasn't much difference between the two sides, they just took their chances, on another day we could have had three or four ourselves, we did well to create the chances we did have, as they defended very well, to the point where if we were going to score it was going to have to come from some brilliant play from us, which we came close to on a few occassions but their keeper made some good saves I thought the usual suspects Triston Rowe, Patterson, Jimoh-Aloba, Borland, and Young all had good games, Kellyman quieter than usual, but maybe playing at half pace knowing he's probably going to be involved with the first team on Thursday Where Chelsea won it was essentially being better than us in both boxes on the day, they paid seventeen million for Washington and Richards is a full Jamaican international and tipped to be the best player to come out of that country since Bailey, so no wonder they were strong in attack
  16. Dujuan Richards who scored both Chelsea goals is from Craig Butler's academy, only eighteen but already has ten caps for Jamaica. I think he's been the main difference between the two teams
  17. Manchester City were never going to get a points reduction anyway, so that being phased out, if so, has no bearing on them, their punishment if found guilty will be trophies that they've won whilst cheating, again if that's proven to be the case, taken away and demotion from the Premier League, maybe a three year ban, so they will essentially have to ask the football league if they can play in League Two and then work their way back If found guilty they will be punished in such a way that it will dwarf many times over what has happened to Everton, just their case is different and more to it, and probably a lot more complicated, so going to take longer to resolve, but it will come eventually
  18. The problem with Luiz being out isn't just related to how well or not he's been playing, it's that other than Iroegbunam he was our only available midfielder suited to playing in the two man midfield. Now we're going to have to either ask McGinn and Tielemans to do a job there or trust Iroegbunam, but not none of the combinations available to us will be ideal, it wasn't ideal as it was without Kamara, our only specialist DM
  19. After the same amount of games last season we were closer to fourth, than the likes to Manchester United, Chelsea, and Newcastle, are to fifth now, we were also in much better form than those teams are now
  20. Ben Sheaf of Coventry getting a lot of rave reviews as a DM, apparently his stats are totally off the scale, the verdict seems to be he will playing in the Premier League next season whether with Coventry or someone else
  21. Villa. Not. Yet. Done. That was July 11th 2020 we were nineteenth in the league and Watford had just beat Newcastle 2-1 meaning we were seven points from safety with just four games to go, many understandably were proclaiming us as relegated in that moment, but we turned things around, if we can survive from that position, seven points from safety with four games to go, then we can get Champions League from this position, same points as Spurs with six games to go
  22. This is an important game on many levels, firstly because we want to reach the semi-final, but also to help with that fifth placed coefficient thing, but after Brentford it's taken on a new importance, we need a lift after throwing away that win, and also in the context of the week as an whole, we don't want to have dropped points to Brentford, failed to win our home tie agains LIlle and have lost to Arsenal come next Sunday, so need to get the win in this game to get a big positive from this week regardless of whatever happens against Arsenal Of course it won't be easy, no games in this competition are as Emery himself has pointed out using games where we've lost or drawn whilst being favorites as evidence, and Lille will presumably be better than those teams But hopefully we can do it and set ourselves up well for the second-leg
