  1. Assassinated, some would say. Here is a rather wonderful song by Coil on the subject As it happens, I quite like Salo. The BFI blu ray I have of it I would recommend to mostly anyone, it looks incredible, and features a bunch of documentarys about the movie and director that help with the (as pointed out above) 'why'. Yeh, just read it's meant to be based on a book by Marquis De Sade who's name the word sadism comes from (T think?) so that gives people an idea, The whole film has been posted on Youtube by several users, if anybody wants to try it, you have to sign in, of course.
  2. Just the description of that Salo film put me of my dinners for like a century, no way I could watch it. It's released on Criterion as well who put out a lot of good movies. The guy who made it was murdered shortly after as well.
  3. Article on the Daily Mail site mentions Spurs, Hull and Celtic being interested and that Sunderland want around ten mill.
  4. Stephen Fletcher's agent has mentioned some premier teams are interested in taking him from Sunderland, I thought it might be us at first with Kozák being injured, but then thought probably most likely not. Maybe West Ham.
  5. La Monte Young, The Second Dream Of The High Tension Line Stepdown Transformer From The Four Dreams Of China. Bootleg Cassette.
  6. Not sure if he would play in central midfield, I'd think that he'd occupy one of the positions that Weimann or Agbonlahor take up, or at least between the midfield and striker. I suppose he's either a good player or not, whenever I've seen him he's looked good.

    Do you read?

I read it online, on Gutenberg but 100-150 pages in the actual book sounds about right. I think most of his books had Illustrations, mostly done by a guy called Phiz. Also I think sometimes the regular edition is billed as a child's story. I tried looking for a Swedish version online but couldn't find anything. Here's an English version on Gutenberg though, if you want to compare with your book.
  8. Rough recording of Panda Bear performing one of his new songs. He's obviously very fond of Brian Wilson.
  9. I don't know if any of you all know about the Khan Academy, but there is a list of videos on it that give a really good basic understanding of the general idea of what went on. The videos on everything are pretty good that I've seen. I should watch them again myself then back it up with some reading up. One good book I did read recently by was Lice by Blaise Cendrars, based on his time during the Great War, really good, maybe not for learning historical facts, but he's a really good writer and gives a good account.
  10. Some British comedies that made me laugh are Red Dwarf, Garth Marenghi's Darkplace, The league of Gentlemen and Psychoville. At one time I used to like Brasseye and The Day Today, but re-watching them recently I thought they'd dated pretty bad, but I think a lot of people still really enjoy them so you never know.
  11. Wasn't it reported that we had the chance of bringing in Ki, but we wanted to buy and Swansea only would do a loan, can't remember where I saw that though, every time I've seen him for Sunderland he's look really brill. edit: I've just looked out, looks like it was only a rumour on twitter
  12. Gang Gang Dance Saint Dymphna LP It's all over youtube here's one track
  13. Fridge Feat MF Doom. Words by William Saroyan.
  14. Benjamin Curtis from The School of Seven Bells, died. I know I've seen them mentioned a few times on here so I'm really sorry guys, so sad.

    Do you read?

I wrote that a bit wrong it was meant to read I don't like Lord of the Rings either, as in don't worry I'm of questionable taste in the eyes of many. I'm not really into Fantasy Novels as it stands, at one time I refused to read fiction so I've improved.
  16. I don't know what it is about Champloo that I like, don't think it's anything in specific like the era or style of fighting, It's just the overall tone and style of it plus the music, so I reckon I'd like this Cowboy Bebop thing too. Thanks for the info.

    Do you read?

I read an interview on The Wire website, with Burial where he mentions M.R James as one of the influences on his music, so that made me interested to read some of his stuff, not that I have yet though, but will do, if Mark Gatiss like him then that's encouraging. When the last series ended. I tried reading some Game of Thrones but couldn't really get into it, obviously the authors got some imagination on him but it all seemed a bit flat to me, I've heard people mention that he sacrifices plot in order to create a good world, maybe that's it, but I don't like stuff like Lord of the Rings either so maybe I'm just an idiot.
  18. Sensational Loaded with Power LP, one of my favourite Rap releases, it's really bugged out and lo fi though so not for everyone. Hardcore
  19. Thanks very much, I'll have to watch that Cowboy Bebop then, should be good.
  20. Yes I think I've seen nearly every Hitchcock movie. The master of suspense. Favs, possibly strangers on a train, vertigo, rear window. Treated his leading ladies like shit though according to Tippi Hedren. and destroyed her career. She did Birds and Marnie and I'm not sure she acted since. Shame how he treated the leading ladies, there's always something. I think Rope is my favourite and all the ones you mention. The 1935 "The 39 steps" was a classic as well. It is also interesting to note that Hitchcock kept Madeline Carrol handcuffed to her costar Robert Donat for hours on end, to create real welts on her wrists for realism in his movie plot. Yeah 'The 39 Steps' Is really great. VIncent Gallo is another one with a rep for treating his actors really bad.
